Thanks so much for making us feel surrounded by the greater chow family. It is an honor to be part of it. Chia's situation sounds a lot like George's as he also quit eating back in November, and we began the downward spiral that brought us here. He would voluntarily take prescription canned food, and kibble mixed with cottage cheese for a while. Most of what he ate the last three months I fed him by hand like it was medicine. He abrubtly stopped eating anything on his own a week ago. He wouldn't even lick the spoon or my fingers.
Also like Chia his blood and urine test never revealed any cancer, just an unexplained anemia. He became good friends with his dr. and that was a real blessing. He no longer hurts.

For George...
Fly, fly little wing
Fly beyond imagining
The softest cloud, the whitest dove
Upon the wind of heaven's love
Past the planets and the stars
Leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain
And fly again
Fly, fly precious one
Your endless journey has begun
Take your gentle happiness
Far too beautiful for this
Cross over to the other shore
There is peace forevermore
But hold this mem'ry bittersweet
Until we meet
Fly, fly do not fear
Don't waste a breath, don't shed a tear
Your heart is pure, your soul is free
Be on your way, don't wait for me
Above the universe you'll climb
On beyond the hands of time
The moon will rise, the sun will set
But I won't forget
Fly, fly little wing
Fly where only angels sing
Fly away, the time is right
Go now, find the light
Fly, fly little wing
Fly beyond imagining
The softest cloud, the whitest dove
Upon the wind of heaven's love
Past the planets and the stars
Leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain
And fly again
Fly, fly precious one
Your endless journey has begun

Oh John, I just saw this post. Rest assured that you were the bestist dad for dear George and it was good that you saw the moment to help him pass through to the Rainbow Bridge. The tender care you gave him during his last months will forever be etched in love memories.
Take care of yourself and keep in touch. You will always be part of the chow chow family at this web site. Much health and peace to you and your family and friends.
