That's great news... If any good comes out of this maybe Buttercup has learned not to take off again. Pekoe wondered off around the block on her own a couple of times but the last time, I don't know what happened but she ran like hell for home and has never taken off again by herself.

Fantastic news!

I searched the sites some this morning, also. I found a cream chow chow in Stockton, information one hour old. Was listed as male, but you can't trust anything for sure that's on shelter site sometimes.

I was wondering about it, but I ran mapquest and it looked like Stockton was about 90 miles from Daly City, but I was thinking about calling regarding it, too.

But now we don't have to!!! The girl is safe at home!

Oh, Jean, I feel so relieved. It's kind of a pity that Iris decided against keeping her, as she did come back to her yard and let her lead her way back into the house.... I'm also sorry that you didn't get to meet Lou when you were literaly in her back yard. She would have loved to meet Buttercup. She is a potential adoptor, she might be looking for a companion to Miss PB after Zhuyo passed away last year... But I suppose you wouldn't have known that.... Oh, well, for today, the most important thing is that Buttercup is safe & sound in a loving environment. I wish her all the best...

Leonora & mum
PS: I was e-mailing Lou this morning that I can't bring Leo onto the search w/ us, as Jean would be inundated w/ siting calls, they look so similar...

Yea!!! Excellent news!

I am happy to hear that Buttercup is safe with you now. Hopefully John and his wife will be able to sort things out and bring Buttercup into their family. If not, she is such a beauty, I'm sure she will find the perfect forever home with the perfect forever parent soon enough.

I wish I could have met Buttercup and yourself, Jean, while you were in the neighborhood. Perhaps you and your chow (and Buttercup, if she is still with you) would like to join us at ChowFest 2007 Northern California in the summer and we can meet. Just keep checking the site for updates. The "steering committee" is in the process of selecting a date and locale at this time.

You are correct, Jean, we didn't know you from *adam*, but we shared in your despair when Buttercup was lost. I know chow people rule... but not *all* chow people rule with the best of intentions, sad to say, half of the members have adopted rescue chows, Jennifer is fostering Poe from an abusive situation, Linda is fostering/adopting Teddie from one, I'll be foster one soon and you just nursed Buttercup from her past life in hell. But we are an awesome group of chow people! The one unique factor about this site is the members are authentic and we come together not just for our own, but for newbies who ask for help. Glad the site and its members were able to contribute to you and Buttercup - whether it was the actual motions of searching on ground or through the internet, or simple prayers, candle lighting and positive thoughts that Buttercup be safe and find her way to Iris.

I just wanted to tally and acknowledge the distance these acts of compassion came from.

Yvonne from Missouri... Karin in Toronto... Cheri from Santa Rosa... Jeff in Los Angeles... Leo's Mum here in San Francisco... Linda from Petaluma... Auddymay in Michigan... Jennifer again from the city (SF)... Layla in Seattle... Salandra from Colorado... Special's mom in Maryland... Sweetpea from Illinois... Victory in Minnesota and of course, Bama, from 'bama (Alabama)!

An amazing group! Thanks again for unifying for a chow! Sweet, purple kisses from Miss Pooh Bear to all of you! =D= =D= =D=

Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the best news ever. I have been away all day but as soon as I got home I had to check on her. I am so releived that she is safe. What a great job you did on getting her back. And what an excellent job Lou and Ms.PB did out there searching. I am sitting here grinning from ear to ear just thinking about it.

Thanks, Linda. Again, PB and I really didn't do anything other than get in the car and search. I think PB was milking the "ride" concept, to tell you the truth. Had we been allowed access to the complex on Friday evening, perhaps Buttercup would have come out for Miss PB. You know how chows have that respect thing for their elder chows. And Merlin posted the secret language between chows. Strangely enough, I wonder if Iris' chow played into Buttercup staying put by speaking in their "chownese". Thanks for the compliment, anyways.

Chowfest? There's a CHOWFEST???

Post by chowteam »

Chowfest? CHOWFEST?

Buffy (also a rescue - her story is quite hilarious - was a 5-6 week old puppy STRAY wandering the streets of San Francisco and then rejected by all and asundry) and I must go to Northern California Chowfest. And perhaps Buttercup too, depending on her whereabouts. Where can I get info?

The little angel is STILL sawing wood - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

:D

Buttercup is now Dax ... and happy in her home!

Post by dax »

Hi

I'm Buttercup -- now known as Dax. John adopted me right after the end of my adventure.

Thank you for all your help. I didn't know this thread was here! It's touching to know how much support there is in this community.

It was amazing to meet many of you who followed this story at ChowFest at Crissy Fields yesterday.

Here I am with him and at ChowFest 2007.

I've lived happily for the last few months with John, Betty, Juno, Preston, Karley now and get to go to work every day!
