Alex passed over the Rainbow bridge this evening
My Chow Alexander of Meltari passed away this evening, I had gone to put him and Smurf away fro the night and found him lying on the ground, He suffered a gastric torsion, Robin and I did the best we could in the dark to release the gasses in his stomach with a gastric tube, but this was a complete torsion and really nothing could have saved him.
Alex would have been 12 years old on the 21st of January.
We buried in the garden. I am going to miss this wonderful chow, a gentelman, and a best friend.

Thank you every one, yes I do miss my dear old man, and Smurf is missing him so much as well they have lived together all their lives, poor girl, how do you console her, I am sure she knows what happened, but even though I talk to her and tell her that he is at peace now does she really understand.
Bless you all
Carolyn

I just want to say how sorry I am for you and your loss.
It always weighs heavy on our hearts to lose a beloved friend. However, I hope it brings you comfort to know that he is in a special place of love, where no pain or worries are felt.
I know he'll always be a fond memory.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to hear of your loss Carolyn. Alex is now full again and playing at the land of no sorrows. We or should I say my folks lost our first chow to the same thing altho I was living away from home by then. That was over 20yrs ago. We still remember her, the strong minded red chow called Cha-Cha. They are all waiting for us at the bridge and one day we can be together again.

huge hugs to you and your family.
Loss is so hard...so permanent...so cruel.
Please be patient with yourself and allow yourself to move slowly beyond the grief. Grief needs to be played out before it goes away.
Love the rest of your family like there is no tomorrow.
And I was once told by another "dogaholic" that the best tribute you can give to the one that has earned his wings is to take another into your heart.

So sorry about Alex. He is now a handsome Chow Angel!
I think that putting our beloved creatures in our back garden keeps them so close to our heart.
My MoMo is back there in my somewhat designated burial site by my apple tree. JR and Cheyenne spend a lot of time around himand I know that he watches over them.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's never easy saying goodbye.
I lost my Tia in May, 2005 and I still miss her everyday. I have 2 other "kids" now who have brought much to my life. However, none ever "replace" the ones we lost. I felt that by adding to my family, I was honoring Tia. I know she's waiting for me as your Alex waits for you. How happy that reunion will be!

Sorry to hear about your loss. I lost Luna in July 2006, it's still fresh in my mind as if it happened yesterday. I now have a new walking buddy, she's sweet and I love her. But I do miss my first furkid.
The Story of the Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...
