I have not seen enough Cream Chows to know all the variations in shading. I have seen them with either pink brown or black noses. Ears are either white or Fawn (Cinnamon). Look on the Web site for Renegade Chows, there is a color chart showing the five major Chow colors with a complete range of shades for each color. Some Chow Mixes look just like pure Bred and can produce interesting color variations, not to imply yours are Mixes.

Cream chows will range from almost white to a slightly yellowed (for lack of better description) coloring. They will generally have a darker coloring on the ears and as Wokman suggested are not bound to the black nose coloring as other chow colors are.

If you are asking about the Chows in you photo...the Chow in the back is a red. Hard to see the full coloring of the dog in the front, but my assessment is that she is a cinnamon. The nails can also be an indicator as creams can have light colored nails as opposed to the black nails of the darker colors. Not 100% but a good indication.

Again, look at the ear coloring. At 2, she may not be in full adult fur yet. Look at the undercoat as well. More than likely if the 2nd coat is black in color, then you have a red. If similar to the top coat, cinammon. Lighter undercoat is indicative of a cream.

I won't even venture an opinion, but here's another site with some guidelines:

I'd also note that indoor photos can show colors very differently than outdoor ones. Whatever color Raven is, I like it. :D

The one facing the camera looks like a cream to me but a buttery cream. The one whose back is turned looks like a biscuit cream. That could be because he is in the shadowed part. Creams range from ivory white to a toasted biscuit. Funny though that there are light reds that are lighter than some creams. Cinnamons are blonde like golden retrievers.

Creams have a more yellow/tawny undertone than a red one. biscuit ears and a Dudley nose are common. Yours look like a dark cream.
