Judging by the picture you posted, I'd say she is definately a pure bred chow.

There is a DNA test kit available that you can use to take a sample at home and send it to a lab. The lab for a fee will return the results telling you what breeds make up your Mutt(dog). I think the Vet was thinking Spitz because of the white on the muzzle and mane below the mouth.

Your vet is not very good at identifiying breeds. First Chows are in the Spitz family of dogs, Chows, Sammies, huskies, Malumutes, Norweign Elk Hounds, Spitz and a few other breeds are in the same family, they are indentified, by dense, double coats, curly tails and a few traits in common, (independence being a big one)
Second she's a pure chow, a cinnamon, many cinnamons have white chins, chests and tummies. I've had two with that coloring. Look at the one in my current signature, he looks like yours now that all the black is gone from his muzzle, (which happens with the cinnamons)

I'd say full bred. I've seen lots with white chins. Victory, what constitutes a cinnamon? Do they have to have a white chin and such or black markings? I've been asked several times if Ty is one, but I don't think so.

At the age of one, your dog looks like a pure chow. I guess the vet said your dog might be a mix when she was a pup?
Regardless your chow is a beauty and looks very sweet.

Only going by the photos you have posted and comparing to chow pups and spitz pups, I would say cross. Only because of the shape of her ears and shape of her paws, and her muzzle is a little iffy.

Cinnamons are light reds with or without white markings. My MingToy was a cinnamon with no white markings. Ming and Dreamdancer were/are cinnamons with white markings.TyChowgirl wrote:I'd say full bred. I've seen lots with white chins. Victory, what constitutes a cinnamon? Ok, so based on the pictures I have on the forum, what would you say he is? I have a few close ups. He's got like white speckles? on his face. Putting him next to some of the reds at the pack walk, even the lighter ones almost made him look cream but I know he's too dark.
