New here!

Post by blueblack »

Stumbled upon this website tonight, and was really excited that it existed. I adopted a beautiful 7 month old male chow about a month ago...making him 8 months now. His name is Simba and he's the best companion in the entire world. I was quite nervous about adopting a puppy, but he has been nothing but a joy.

This website really is a great resource, and I look forward to contributing what I can, and learning all that I can.

Welcome to the site and by your name, I assume that your Simba is black/blue Chow boy!

This is indeed an excellent site and the help and advice and stories we share are brilliant.

Hope to hear more from you and maybe you will be able to share some pictures of your boy. :D

Actually the reference was to the tongue that licks me every 5 seconds. He's a fawn color, but there appears to be some red coming in...so not sure what color he'll end up. I'll get some pictures up once my dead computer is fixed tomorrow.

Right - I understand - purple kisses! Lucky blighter - we very seldom get purple kisses from blue/black tongues but our daughter is smothered with them every time she visits.

p.s. I hate dead computers!

Welcome new friend. You are in a great place. I only found it about a month ago myself, and already feel part of the family.
Chows are fantastic, no matter what color. You are really lucky to get one of the more expressive ones. Benny gave me some kisses about two months ago, or maybe I just had something on my hands that tasted good.

Welcome. I'm relatively new too since I just brought home my first chow, TiVo, a few weeks ago. He's almost 6 months now and Simba's coloring sounds a lot like his. He's cream but has darker patches as well, though lately we're referring to him as "surfer dude" because a patch of the fur on back has gotten really light, almost blond. I've already picked up a lot of advice and information from this forum.

Welcome! I'm Melanie and I live in Alaska with my five dogs (three chows and two German shepherds). I do a lot of activities with my dogs and teach obedience classes too.

You'll find a variety of information here and there will always be people willing to share their opinions!

Fixed image tags.

Here's a picture the first day I met him at the shelter. His original name was Booboo, but he didn't respond to it.

Image

Here's a week or so after living with me...still exploring the place and getting used to living somewhere comfortable!

Image

This is from about a week and a half ago or so. I shaved him because it's sooooo incredibly hot here, that was, of course, until reading on this website that that my not help control tempreture and may in fact give more discomfort. If anyone can give some more info on this subject that would be great. Hope you guys enjoy the pictures.

Welcome and beautiful chow boy. No more lion cuts though! He is very attentive that's a good thing.
