Are you talking about entropion? That's where the eyelids turn inwards and the lashes irritate the eye. It can eventually lead to blindness. A good vet should be able to tell by looking at the eyes. I think some puppies will eventually grow into their heads so the symptoms can possibly go away without surgery. I've also heard of some people just getting their Chows' eyes tacked instead of having full-up surgery.

My Bear had watery eyes when I adopted him and the vet was able to tell right away he had entropion. Bear went to a specialist and I keep an eye on his eyes to make sure things are still okay.

yes thats it..cant spell for nuts! bear has it and we're using ointment twice a day for him till we can et him surgery...his eyes always look sore..i dont want denises puppy to have it too...so if theyre eyes are clear now it doesnt mean theyre clear from entropian??? its a horrible thing....

Not always. Entropion can develop as a puppy after they come home, at an early age of even later in life. Also, it can redevelop after surgical correction... just an FYI
