I don't know if anybody noticed but the large dogs 40lbs and over have a play time of 2 hours from 9 - 11 in the morning only for the indoor park Canine Creature Comforts. This also would be a 6 1/2 hour drive for me.

Valley Forge Park........talk about a blast from the past. I used to go there all the time w/ my parents. we rode our bikes thru there a lot. I remember how gorgeous it was there. The chowkidz and us are in no matter where it is.

We will definitely make it! We're in Laurel, MD, so MD/PA/VA or surrounding areas are fine by us. (Will try to post pictures of T-Bone this weekend). Thanks to all for this wonderful idea!

Okay, I am back from vacation, caught up at work, and will be talking with the Valley Forge people this week. Now, I cannot do it Memorial Day Weekend. But, if one of you wants to be the contact I can put you in touch with the VF folks. Do you want to do it on a holiday? If you want me to organize it on another weekend, do yiu want to do Mid May or June? Or wait until fall?

If it's not before the middle of May, we would have to wait until fall. If it gets too warm i am afraid Nanook will not be his normal charming self and we try to avoid putting him in those situations. Jade on the other hand is a 40# cat that barks. She will lay on the black top all day long and soak up the sun rays. Nanook is like frosty he will melt. I am sure it is going to be tuff to fit everyone's schedule. I say who every is taking the time to try and plan, pick a date and go from there.

Still not sure if we'll be traveling, or what Sullivan's status will be then. But, we did our "north central" chowfest mid-October, the same day as the southern one and the weather was absolutely beautiful!

Northeast Event - This is just FYI and some of you may or may not have heard of this event: For those in the New York area or nearby areas: the 2008 Chow Specialty in the Northeast will be held in Oyster Bay, NY. Dates are as follows: 5/16/08-5/18/08. There is a Specialty Auction Dinner on Saturday night which will be awesome - reservations required. Lots of prizes to be given away and great delicious food. This has always been a fun event for those with chows and without chows. If you require further info, please let me know.

What goes on at the Chow Specialty show? Sounds really cool!

Now, as for an October date in Valley Forge Park.....I am waiting to hear back from the park folks on what weekend would be good for them. When I get some dates from them I will start a NEW thread.....that okay?

New thread is fine.

The Chow Specialty show is a three day event in conjunction with the Ladies Kennel Association of America. They will be showing the chow breed. They will also have a puppy group as well as the veterans chows. Dogs can enter the sweepstakes etc. If you go to the AKC site and look under events and search NY - you will see the information. After the show, there will be an auction and dinner that Saturday night which is to die for. Prior to that, there is a President's Cocktail hour with complimentary delicious hors d'oeuvre, cold salads and cocktails! It is a lot of fun so please check it out on the AKC site.

The chowkidz are still in depending on the date. We have a FL trip planned from Sept 29 thru Oct 8. I read Ms Bella Bear in was interested in a chowfest in Canada. Maybe between NY, Maine, Mass and anyone else crazy enough we could do one there. I told her that would be a great 4 day weekend trip for the chowkidz.

Maybe you folks would like to combine your Chow fest with our North Eastern Sharpei Meetup.
We met last year in Freeport, Maine and it was fantastic!

This year in June 2009 it will be in Montreal, Canada or in Prescott, Ontario, we are not sure yet.
In either case, both cities are very accessible from most major US cities along the border.

We really did have an outstanding time and there were several chows there with us as well.
People came from as far away as Michigan.

This year we have people coming from Idaho.
Anything is possible.

If we can help you plan or coordinate in any way, please count us in!
Cheers
