That's funny! Sleep? What's sleep? LOL.. As soon as the light comes through the window, Sid is UP and about. He had a late night last night so he slept until 8am. ha ha ha ha ha...THEN.. it's HIS nose to MY nose, and I am wakened by soft, cute little "grunts".. "Momma, it's time to get up"..

And here is how rotten they are... its not enough to wake me up at 4:30 (weekday time) but once I am up and breakfast has been served and all the pottying taken care of, then they have to go jump on the bed... by jump, I do not mean jump up on the bed, I mean get up on the bed and jump around on DBF until HE gets up too... then once everyone is up, they all lay down and nap. Ahhhh... they're job is done.

J72, are you in my house? It's spooky that you can see what has just happened here as well... Now I'm awake, DH is awake, our guests are awake and Millie looks like either of these shots.....

So, basically it comes down too... some dogs are police dogs. Some dogs are agility dogs. And some dogs are alarm clocks. Its so important for them to have purpose...
Pretty much paint Millie black and that is an exact replica of Simon right now!

OMG!! That's just TOO funny! I lucked out, Sid never wakes up in the middle of the night. He gets his last snack and drink of water between 7:30 and 8pm. One last trip outside to "take care of business".. Then, I say "It's bedtime".. He goes to his bed and waits for his Omega 3 caps and his 3 last cookies of the day, then... he settles right down and sleeps through the night.

Hmmm... maybe start a "routine?"... I guess I never thought about it until now but it's the same as putting a baby on a schedule.

I love Chows, they are amazing, amazing creatures!

Ours rarely wake anyone up. Tess is on guard duty all night (at least she thinks she should be), so by 6-7 in the morning, she is out cold. Now she will get up with who ever is the first person in the house up, but unless she really needs to go out, she will sleep until someone wakes up. Tacia, being the old lady she is, does not get up some days until 10 or 11 some mornings even if everyone else in the house is up. I am usually up really late, so make both go out before I go to bed about 2-2:30 so they are usually not needing to go out or anything.

Gracie use to wake me up bright and early every morning. When it was no longer get up and open the back door to let them run but turned into I had to walk them, things changed. First I get up, grab a pepsi and my laptop, go sit down to think about how much I hate the thought that I have to get dressed to go take a morning walk. After I'd think about it awhile I'd close the laptop, go get ready to take that walk so Gracie figured out when I put the laptop down its time to go. All at once it started changing. Unless she really had to go bad she stopped waking me up so early and just waited for me to close the lid of my laptop. Its still that way, she waits for that sound.

Special is so good about that. He just sleeps until we get up. We have an understanding, we sleep until we want, but the minute we're up it's Special's turn and he would never let us get away with not taking him out then! :D In the beginning he would cry in the morning at very early hours, we ignored him and would only get up once he stopped crying, so he learned that crying doesn't work.

I am such a morning person. I am up by 4:00am every morning, I beat the dogs and my sons up but 5 hours on the weekend. By the time they are up, I am done with my weekend laundry, vaccumming mopping and school work. Yoshi,Max and the others will get up when I do but go back to bed. I did once sleep to 6:00 felt like a lazy cow...

Oh, I love those gorgeous chow chow "it's time to get up grunts". M & M usually wake me around 7.00 a.m. - it is lovely when they lay in sometimes! :D

*LOL* .. well, it would take some perseverance. You'd have to be willing to either ignore the "wake up" attempts, or teach your dogs a command like "go back to bed" by getting up, taking them back to bed, having them lay down, and then going back to bed .. and doing it over and over until it clicks (kind of a la Nanny 911 .. *L*).

It's really difficult for people with a regular schedule because the dogs adapt to the schedule and see no reason to change it on weekends. The best way to teach your dogs not to wake you up is to not have a schedule, but most people can't do that. I'm lucky. I work out of my home and can sleep when I'm sleepy and be up when I'm not. I'm a total night owl too and have insomnia problems so it's not unusual for me to be awake until 4 or 5 a.m. And then I sleep accordingly .. *L* .. and when I get up, I usually have to step over the dogs to head to the bathroom. Khana will sometimes get up to check on me, but the dogs know that I'm not going to let them out or feed them immediately so they go back to sleep. I usually wake up with my hands so sore and stiff that I can't close them, and my shoulders and left knee are usually sore too (rheumatoid arthritis). So I spend an hour or so getting the joints moving. Khana helps by letting me massage her .. *L* .. it really helps my hands. If she's not already on the bed, she comes up for some cuddling after I wake up. Yes, she's spoiled.

I can't understand morning people .. *G* .. it's like you're a completely different species to me!

Well, I luck out in this one. My Husband is an early riser, 5:00AM everyday. He wakes the Butters up, they both know not to wake me. In fact if Butters is outside getting a squirrel or something else and I appear in the door in the morning, he knows, the fun is over. Big Trouble. Not a morning person at all.

One the weekdays, Aslan will start to bark by 8am if he doesn't see me downstair. On the weekend, I do get to sleep to about 8:01 or so. He just bark, bark, bark and bark. Sometime, I wander if he works for my boss.

I'm pretty sure my dogs have been bought off too Aslan... and probably pretty cheap too. There is no loyalty... they probably just did it for the treats.
