Accupuncture 3

Post by chris »

Ok dokey... so today I go in... Tell them that since my first appointment I do not have night sweats anymore. (you know... I had a full work up and one of the things they were checking for... when i went to my NON ACCUPUNTURIST doctor... early "man o paws" and they said I was not starting that. /:)
Anyway... so.. no more night sweats... I also have not had a head ach.. (I would get these head achs.. that didn't really hurt.. but they were there... it would be accross my fore head) my back and neck have not been hurting either. BUT, I did tell them that after my last appointment I did get some nasty cramps.. it was for a day or two.. and not constant.. BUT, it could have been me ovulating because I can feel that now.. not like when i was younger I couldn't feel that at all...
Anyway.. What else...? OH, I actualy seem to be more focused on what I am doing... example: at work, I'm making less mistakes when it comes to making a document or something. Almost like I have become more detailed. At least I feel like I've become that way.
Emotionaly: well, a bit better... something came up at work and instead of getting upset..(hey I just remembered that would be 2 things at work if you consider JERKOFSKI the other day) that I would probably have been upset over.. but instead I was more.."pissed off"... yes.. pissed off.. not pissed on Janet. :-)
Last night, the company I work for took us all out bowling at the new bowling ally that we built. It was really fun. but this morning, the back of my left calf was sore.. I must have pulled it or something. So, while I was explaining it and showing her where it was... I pull the muscle in my left lower back... :? ... and I have not been on my skin meds for 2 months now... and this week my skin seems to be worsening. To be honest... I really think I need to drink more water and tea and stay away from all the other crap. thats my theory.. but they had no comment.
So this time, instead of laying on my back.. I layed on my belly and they put needles in my back and my BUTT (that would be BUTT CHEEKS for all you freaks out there :-) ) and my calfs and behind my knee... cant remember if they were anywhere else. THIS time.. I felt the ones in my butt. It was on the left side of my bootie.... LMAO.. hehe.. but I said.. "ooo".. I felt that one.. She didn't say anything.. maybe its because thats the side of my body that I hurt my calf and then my lower back... :-? So this time.. I fell asleep... I even felt my self twitching.. (I do that when I fall asleep).Oh yeah, she put a head lamp over my back too.. the back of my calf does not hurt right now.. but my lower back is a little tender... but not like it hurt when I did it.

so... so far so good. I'm going again next Friday. Hey Alan... what would be your suggestion... should I continue to go every friday for a while? or can I start cutting down to 2 X's a month? and then eventualy down to 1 time a month? i will continue to do everything else the dr says and of course i would like to eventualy be OFF all medications, including my "wack job" meds. (thats my nick name for them... it cracks my dad up when I say that.. hehehehe :D )

Your imput please.

I know you were waiting for Alan & Sharon's input but I thought I'd jump in.

I started experiencing much of the same things you did over 2 years ago. I was spade some 13 or 14 years ago (can't remember had a glass of wine or 2  )...& have been on hormone therapy replacement. The Dr.'s ran me thru the testing gammet (spelling??).. they said it was impossible to be the "pause".. 2 months worth of testing, insomnia that came from nowhere, migraines that would take me knees, headaches that would start aroung my shoulders & work there way up my neck & the back of my head... hot flashes so bad, my face & neck would get beet red & them the spells at night.. after being sent to 3 dcotors & 4 specialist... yep... it's the "pause".. I'm not even 40 yet. My neurologist put me on Paxil 9I like what you call the stuff better) & nealy all symptoms are gone except for the weight gain...argh. Oh well... thats my story & I'm sticking to it. I hope you aren't going thru it & have many healthy, happy years to come before your are sitting int he back seat w/ Steele & the 2 of you are fighting for the cool air out the window & it's 25 degrees outside & hubby is driving @ 55mph  I'm actually trying to get into an acupuncturist... there's a school that Irishs' holistic vet recommended, I just can't get them to call me back :wall:
Maybe the word is out about me.... :o)

I started Celexa about 2 years ago and have gained 15 lbs. Which isn't so bad.. but I would like to loose about 1/2 that... and no matter what I do.. I can't seem to do it. SO I was checking out on the web about celexa.. and one of the side effects is weight gain... soooooooo I called the doc and asked for Welbutrine XL... I think I posted what I was going through when i was being weened of celexa to go onto welbutrine... any way.. I have no idea if I have lost any.. maybe a pound or 2.. but no idea. I do know that I haven't gained anymore. I'm still not that big, but I'm only 5'2 so I would like to be 108-110 .. I was 105 before.. and then way back when... before kids.. it was 98lbs... i don't want to go there again... lol. I needed a little meat.

Hi Chris

Great news and your results are better then expected for 3 sessions, Cant recall what the issue is that you are treating so yo may want to pm me again.

However usualy the area you described is bladder 53 and 54 and are associated with clearing dampness such as urinary retention. However remember that in conjunction with other points they may effect other areas such as pain in the lumbo sacral area.
3 to 5 treatments usualy will releive a problem so another 2 weeks should do it HOWEVER most people do not change their live style of diet and health so the problem comes back.

In your case since you are receptive to the Chinese sytem you should highley consider finding a Qi Gong master or a good Tai Chi teacher This activity within 2 years will allow you to live medicine free and full of Qi and health.

I have not missed more then a few days in over 15 years and have not taken a perscription in this time nor have I been sick. Plus after fracturing my left lower leg in 3 places last April I had the cast off withinn 4 days and continued my training.

Take care
Alan

I don't worry about my weight any more. Obesity is not healthy, a bit of extra weight can be. Just exercise to keep the bones strong.

My mom was 30 pounds overweight. She had a heart attack. When she was moved to the regular ward, she ate very lttle food, no appetite. A month later she was 35 pounds lighter. The cardiologist said if she hadn't had those extra pounds she'd have died.

I like my extra pounds, my friends say I look better, whenever I lose weight, my face starts to look gaunt, hollow, who wants to starve?

My family and friends say the same thing. I guess really for me it wouldn't be loosing the weight.. more or less I have to get off my lazy butt and tone it up.

Hey Alan... question for you and this will help the others that seem to be as interested in all of this as I am. I located a qigong teacher... not so close, but I'm not sure where he holds his classes. (his "office".. I think or maybe its even his house is about 25-30 minutes away). anyway, if not qigong... what would be the next best thing..??? tie chi? some of my friends have suggested Polaties or kick boxing... the kick boxing looks fun, but I'm not sure its going to help me through all of this. I don't think it's very relaxing, or going to help me find my inner qi... now is it? And Polaties, thats more of just stretching isn't it?
What would be your suggestions?

Hi Chris

Qi Gong is the root of Tai Chi.
Finding someone who does Qi Gong is very rare
However Tai Chi containes Qi Gong.
Most tai Chi teachers have the basics and you will get a lot of benefits from learning the forms.

In the long run you need a teacher who knows the martial side of the forms as well as the full Qi side.
Again this is rare .

Kick boxing and all WESTERN interpretations of the Chinese system is a waste of time other then excercise.

Qi Gong and Tai Chi is not a form of excercise They are a system of a healthy life based on internal energy. this energy is channeled into the organs through meridians.

The paths that your acupuncurist is using.

Let me know what city you live in and I will check to see if any masters who arelisted in my sources are in the area.

Now if you can train at home get started with a book on the Da Mo forms that are a foundation for Qi Gong

The best book to start is QIGONG for HEALTH and MARTIAL ARTS
by DR. YANG, JWING-MING. You can find it used for $5 to 6.00
My Dad who is 85 does this form for the past 5 years since I taught it to him and he has gained a lot more mobility in the shoulders.

Feel free to ask any questions as I have usualy have 6 to 8 students on the internet at any time asking questions.

take Care

Now Alan...
We all know who helped heal that foot , after all Sharon posted photos of the true healer in the family or, should I say Chow healer...  Just kidding.

My dad found a Tai Chi class at his gym, he said there is quite a bit of stretching & breathing and slow movements ending in a stance where you balance different parts of your body. Is this the Tai Chi you are refering to?
If so, can you reccomend a video tape? I have 3 left feet & the gym seen is not for me. If they say to move to the rite, I move to the left, inevitably knocking into someone... oh you all laugh... it's true. It's something I wud feel more comfortable doing at home where I can knock my own tv off a shelf & not feel bad

Chris: I'm glad to hear it's working for you, I'm excited to have treatments as well. I will talk to my Dr about the med you mentioned, as this extra weight is not good.

Tai chi

Post by Sharons Chows »

Hi 3bc

First i am glad you had a good experience with the intuitive As I said prior some realy have it.

Now as far as Tai Chi goes yes this is what I am talking about however only a part Tai Chi realy cant be learned by tape it must be taought in person to feel and guide as 50% is internal. but go go

However QI Gong can be done at home with minimal teaching.
So lets get positive Buy
" QIGONG for HEALTH and MARTIAL ARTS by DR. YANG, JWING-MING
used is less then $10.00 The Da Mo forms are easy to learn and a good start
Get the book and call me or pm i vcan guide you I have 5 students now on the internet and a dozen or so I see once a month

After a good foundation in Qi Gong you will want to try Tai Chi

REMEMBER many people come to Tai Chi on their death bed and walk after 18 months Tai Chi is for every one not the matial artist

Alan and Sharon,

I am interested in this as well. I am researching for acupuncture in my area. I want to try the NON PILL route for a change for my spinal and joint issues as well as for my soul. They have a Yoga class at work and I paid and signed up and when I went it was power yoga! It wasn't advertised as such! When I asked the instructor she just smiled and after that I didn't hear anything she said. Sure yoga is about power, but the type of yoga that they are doing in a lot of gyms these days is NOT for me and NOT true yoga in my eyes. I guess it serves a purpose for building strength, but I cannot change postures that quickly. Could be that is either for advanced practitioners or young people. Don't know. Maybe you can clarify.
Anyway, I'll try to get this book.

Hi Chris,
I was just reading through this and you were asking about Pilates. I go to the gym every 2nd day and in between I do Pilates a couple times a week. I personally find it very relaxing. Yes it does stretch you out but its also not as easy as it looks, it can be challenging. It concentrates on strengthing your "core" and you'd be surprised at how toned you can get from doing this. Maybe you can start out by buying a couple dvd's and do them at home first and then if you really like it, you can sign up for a class. I suffer from migraines and I have a bad upper back and get lots of upper back and neck pain, and I have found pilates really helps with this. Yoga's good too but I dont find it quite as challengine (IMO). Just a couple suggestions for ya. :)

Hi All

Good to search for facts.

So again Qi Gong and Tai Chi is not excercise we try to define it.

It is the root of all human energy and movement.
It is both completely internal and external.
It heals and is preventive.
it centers and roots you.
It provides energy to do what your mind directs.
it takes about 18 months of around 2 hours a day 5 days a week to feel .
it takes a few years to use .It takes around 7 years to master .
It takes a liftime to complete.
So start with a honest instructor and then do iot on your own.

Again if any body realy is ready please pm me and I will discuss the details needed to train.
I started energy work about 1975 and acupunture and massage and Tibetan arts and sound ect plus martial training and have never stopped.
At 61 my blood pressure is normal , my cholestrol is low , my energy is high. I have not taken medicine for 15 years and that was only for a few weeks i have never had a perscription for any thing other then a local infection due to a few motorcycle accidents.
I do Qi Gong on a average of 3 1/2 hours a day and on many weekends I do up to 7 hours
For you that know martial arts
I have a 6th Dan master rank in Kyusho-Jitsu the Okinawa version of Dim Mak under Grand Master George Dillman.

I have a 6th Dan master rank in Jodoryu -Jitsu
A system involving the internal energy of emotion and direction based on smallcircle fighting.

I have a 5 Dan Master in Kiaida under Grand Master Song Park

This is a combined art of Chinese and Tibetan internal energy using the effects of sound to creat the energy used to stop organs.

As well as a few black belts in Karate

You must have both ways of the Ying and Yang to properly understand and do the Qi Gong and Tai Chi

Got a bit long winded but I do want any one pursuing this path to understand its depth and way.
take Care
