Need advice, name change?

Post by chowlover »

I'm asking for advice because I don't know so please give your honest opinions...
do you think it is possible or okay to change a chowbaby's name?
Here's the deal.....
I think Chloe looks like a Lola. I have a niece named Chloe, maybe that has something to do with it, I don't know. Anyway, the weird thing is that when I say Chloe, she doesn't even flinch. Its like she doesn't even know thats her name. So, I experimented and called her Lola. She whips around and comes right to me! So, would it be a bad thing to change her name at this point??? :?

I like Lola better, too. Although Chloe is my favourite character on "Smallville". It just doesn't sound much like a dog's name. I like Lola and Lucky...L&L :D So I would change it especially since you said she comes when you say it.

I think Lola is a great name, and she does look like a Lola (I think so anyway). I say change her name, especially if she seems happy with.

Changing a name is easy - if Lola fits, I'd say go for it!

Dora was "Sunni" before I got her (she's a black chow .. *L*). I never liked Sunni, so I taught her that her name was Dora instead and it didn't take long at all.

I do a structured training of the name, though .. most probably wouldn't, but I teach them that when I say the name, they're to look at me. This eventually translates into each dog understanding their name so well that I can open the door and say "just Dora" and little Dora will push through all the other dogs and be the only one that comes out. I do the same thing handing out treats. I can hold out a biscuit and say "Khana" and Khana will take it, but the other dogs won't.

It's handy when you have multiple dogs!

Apparently, JR was Max when I got him at 7 months from the pound.
My son wanted to call him MO Jr. after our departed MoMo....I didn't... so Jr. became JR {JAY ARE}
He was just fine with his name change.

Cheyenne....we are really not too sure. She was almost 4 when we got her last year. We think her name was either Chien or something similiar. Alan couldn't get it right and ended up calling her Cheyenne most of the time...she was fine with it.

I think that Lola is a lovely name and fits this precious girl well!

Darkwind was Eugene when I got him, Firesong was Jessie, now it's true both hadn't had those names for long being rescues but it didn't take them long to learn their new names.

It dosn't matter if you change the name, in time they just react to your voice no matter what you are saying, Pekoe gets called alot of things, Peks, porkchop, buckwheat, she reacts to them all sometimes even dam'it and some I can't mention, she could be on the other side of the house and all I do is say are you ready and she comes running.

I don't really like the name Lola, It sounds like an old lady hooker but thats just me, Lola is fine.

The way that girl was smiling in the new pictures you had, she doesn't care one iota what you call her! Go for Lola!

The name Chloe probably has bad connotations to her, anyway.

I'd say if it works, do it. The only word Benny reacts to is cheese. :)

I have a confession to make. Lola reminds me a little of the song by the Kinks. It's about a transvestite.

LOL... does she have a dark brown voice? Me too. Here is a funny connection- Lola was sung by The Kinks, which was a band formed by two brothers whose last name is Davies. Coincidence? (naw, I'm just stretching associations)

Breathless, you could have left it at transvestite hooker and not changed it, that's why I said old hooker.

Also, nowhere in the song does it say she is a 'he' or a hooker. The line goes " I'm glad I'm a man, and so is Lola." Now, this can be taken to mean Lola is a man, or Lola is glad the other guy is a man. Also, the song could be taken that Lola is just a burly woman- it is up to the listener. I find the way people interpret ambiguous lyrics like these are very telling...that, and I heard an interview of Ray Davies explain the ambiguity of the song about 10 years ago. Yep, I love that old time rock and roll.

I met her in a club down in old Soho
where you drink champagne and it tastes just like Cherry Cola
C-O-L-A Cola.
She walked up to me and she asked me to dance.
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said, "Lola"
L-O-L-A Lola, lo lo lo Lola
Well, I'm not the world's most physical guy,
but when she squeesed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my Lola, lo lo lo Lola, lo lo lo Lola
Well, I'm not dumb but I can't understand
why she walks like a woman and talks like a man
Oh my Lola, lo lo lo Lola, lo lo lo Lola
Well, we drank champagne and danced all night,
under electric candlelight,
she picked me up and sat me on her knee,
She said, "Little boy won't you come home with me?"
Well, I'm not the world's most passionate guy,
but when I looked in her eyes,
I almost fell for my Lola,
Lo lo lo Lola, lo lo lo Lola
I pushed her away. I walked to the door.
I fell to the floor. I got down on my knees.
I looked at her, and she at me.
Well that's the way that I want it to stay.
I always want it to be that way for my Lola.
Lo lo lo Lola.
Girls will be boys, and boys will be girls.
It's a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world,
except for Lola. Lo lo lo Lola. Lo lo lo Lola.
Well I left home just a week ago,
and I never ever kissed a woman before,
Lola smiled and took me by the hand,
she said, "Little boy, gonna make you a man."
Well I'm not the world's most masculine man,
but I know what I am and that I'm a man,
so is Lola.
Lo lo lo Lola. Lo lo lo Lola.

there you go  ...so is Lola a man now or not???

Just remember one thing, What ever Lola wants Lola gets.

Is that the same song or differant song.
