I looked at the website that I could find. My 1st reaction is that the prices they list are unrealistically low. That in itself may not be a problem, but purebred Chows of any decent quality can fetch a minimum of $1500 in the US. So they are way below market. That may sound great, but who is giving up that kind of income?

They also don't list any of the lineage. I don't have any litters available, so I am not trying to steer you, but I spend plenty of time and money to Show my dogs in AKC Conformation competitions. Both of my males are AKC Champions, and my 5 year old is likely to complete his GCH this year. The purpose of these shows is to affirm his breeding quality. It's odd that they don't identify the sire and dam or any accomplishments of the parents. Quality breeders will tell you these things. There are probably 10 - 15 great lineages in the US these days. These are the lines that continue the breed in the best possible manner. Next up are the lines that are good and still have good value. And by value, I mean quality/health.

I can't say its a scam, but I don't think they are promoting the best of the breed. Even at the prices listed, with the pictures shown, I would guess that you would be looking at a pup of the lowest possible quality. With that comes health issues, lots of vet bills, and a short life span. You could get lucky, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Be careful who you get chows from. Preferably you want a chow thats bread with good temprament, and well trained at birth (potty training, good maners, etc). You'll be amazed at how much a pup learns in the first 8 weeks. You also don't want a pup before 9 weeks and not after 10 weeks. Some breeders will sell you a pup past 12 weeks out of desperation becuase they know it becomes much harder to sell older pups.

Socialization with humans / kids end at 3 months roughly or 12 weeks. And training by mom till 9. So you really have a short period to meet as many ppl as possible. I ordered a chow 9 years ago , at the time I thought it was 9 weeks or younger. I think the breeder lied to me and sold me an older pup and I was never able to socialize my dog with ppl. The pup ended up growing very skittish of ppl, some what ok with dogs, and costed thousands to try to fix the behavior issues. To top it off, he ended up dieing of cancer early.

You want a breeder who cares about the chow line, cares about temperament, already has kids in the house or is well socialized to ppl at a young age. You'll also want to alpha of the litter if possible. A confident dog is a well behaved dog is my opinion.

So there is a lot that goes into buying chows, so choose wisely. I don't know much about the sites you listed but if its less then $1500 I would steer clear. Sounds like a puppy farm.
