Nervously excited, AGAIN!
So, as I stated before, I lost my first REAL job about a month and a half ago, after I got in my car accident.... And since then, I've been looking for another job. Well, last week, (after a LOT of pestering from my mom and my brother; who works there) I applied at Waffle House. And this afternoon I got a call from the district manager wanting me to come in for an interview tomorrow! I'm excited that I finally have an interview, but nervous that if I get hired that I'll screw something up majorly and get fired... But hopefully that doesn't happen!

Re: Nervously excited, AGAIN!
Good Luck, I am not familiar with Waffle House (guess its self explanatory though) how badly could you mess up to be fired, strawberries and cream instead of cream and strawberries? Too much Maple syrup (like there is such a thing!) Stay positive and relax, if or rather when you get hired, just be vigilant and listen to direction and instruction, no matter how blindingly obvious it may appear.
Best of Luck Sweetie, will cross all animal paws in the house for you and may even go find a rabbit to stroke. Surely the whole rabbit will be better than just a paw!

Jessie love!
Ditch the nervous. Ditch the excited.
Just take on the Calmness! Take on the Determination!
Good luck and don't think what can go wrong - just think of all the positive things.
Fingers and paws crossed.

Re: Nervously excited, AGAIN!
Thank y'all! I'm glad to finally be apart of the working class of America again. And it's gonna be nice to be able to buy the dog foods that Jasper and Dixie and Todd eat, vet bills (Thank the Lord yearlies and vaccines have already been taken care of, now, to continue working on getting Jazz better), other needed critter stuff, gas in my car, and to save. And to finally have my dad off my back.

Re: Nervously excited, AGAIN!
Congrats Jess. You'll do fine. Here's a couple of hints on getting good tips from someone who goes out to eat fairly often, (when I'm working) and who has tons of friends who do the same. Smile and be pleasent, even if the person at the table is a jerk, don't let it show to him/her or another table. Sympathy tips can come your way, (honest). Be attentive to fluid refills, tips are lost because water glasses go empty. Remember what you are asked for...people don't like asking twice. And lastly, being attentive doesn't mean parking yourself at a table and swapping life stories, unless the people at the table start it, (but don't ignore others for them).
Again Congrats...
Again Congrats...

Hi Jess,
Yea!!! Congrats!!! I'm so happy for you!
I agree with the advice Victory gave.
Food for thought - I speak from past experience
Working with the general public can be a real Pepsi challenge. Patience is a big requirement. Smile. Now and then be prepared to bite your tongue and not say what you are really thinking.
Last but not least - Even thoughthis isn't exactly what you are wanting to do, at least you now have a job and money will be coming in to help you out onthe home front and this may help your dad to back off. You can still look for another job in the meantime.
You go girl!

Re: Nervously excited, AGAIN!
Thank y'all! I'll definitely keep all that in mind.
Sad thing is though, my first 2 pay check are already going towards taking Jazz to the vet, AGAIN... I really wish he was getting better...

Re: Nervously excited, AGAIN!
Sad to hear the vet will be benefitting once again. But i did like the others advice on having a service position. I have had good nites out, and nites where the food wasnt so great. The difference is always the server, and i would never blame them for food. I love great service...and i mean attentiveness, a smile, and sincere attitude. Those type of people always are the best in my eyes, not the ones who are 'bound' to a job. Try to enjoy it, and let that be seen. You'll do great.

Re: Nervously excited, AGAIN!
Thanks. I'm gonna do my best. And I'm gonna aim to be better than the people I know who work there because even when I eat there and they're serving me, I notice they're slacking...

Good luck and well done. It is always easier to get a job when you are already working so may this be a stepping stone in time to something you really want to do with your life.....CONGRATULATIONS...you go girl!

Re: Nervously excited, AGAIN!
Congrats!
Since I was unemployed for several months earlier in the year, i can completly understand.. it is truly nerve racking and frustrating. However, now you are employed, and 1 less thing to think about. That is great news!
..and also from someone who does go out to dinner/meals frequently, it truly sometimes is about the server and the food is secondary. keep them coming back and you will have customers for life@

Jess, GOOD LUCK. Believe me, I know how hard the current economy is. I don't know if you are into this sort of thing, but I have been reading that there is a shortage of machinists. Right now, the majority are over 50. Check out Georgia Works and see if there is any training available. If companies really need workers, they should be willing to help with training. It is now a really high tech career involving computers.
Hang in there. You can do it.

Re: Nervously excited, AGAIN!
It's not going anywhere... They let me go yesterday, claimed I wasn't picking up on things fast enough... Which they're allowed to do.... They told us that at orientation.... But it's whatever. Guess this job just wasn't meant to be...
