Pudding: from Austin to Atlanta
Hey Everyone,
I am trying to adopt this Creme who was an owner surrender in Austin TX, and get her transported to Atlanta. I need to fire up the Chow Chow Express and see who can help in getting her to me.

Re: Pudding: from Austin to Atlanta
This should not be a hard transport to arrange or hook up with. I know a number of transport coordinators I can put you in touch with, but I get a daily email from a transport network that has lots of transports going all the time. I have deleted and can't recover the latest with the contact info but should have another tomorrow. Please email me off line to remind me to send it to you! Great looking Chow and so glad to see one getting rescued from a shelter.

I am trying to coordinate with another transport going from ATL to TX and getting her picked up by the shipper/transporter and having her brought back to ATL while they are in TX.
Re: Pudding: from Austin to Atlanta
Is it different than the group that Susan suggested? It would be good for us to have this information available for others that might need transport help in the future. Let us know how it works out for you and Pudding.

Re: Pudding: from Austin to Atlanta
Right now its a bit of a cluster.
There is a website called Uship, and they have pet transport specialist...among others. The idea is to put your "shipment" out there for these companies to bid on...I guess its the priceline of shipping.
Since there is a Chow going from GA to TX (I think he's from GA), am I am trying to get the same shipper on the return trip to hopefully take up my "shipment" and bring Pudding back to GA. That's the plan anyway.
I may just end up driving out there and getting her myself.

Sand is the chow coming from GA to TX. I've heard rumors that part of the transport may be videotaped for a tv show. I think it's called Shipping Wars. We're hoping this sytem works out because it'll really open up some opportunities for rescue. We have a lady in Ohio that wants one of our boys so she's going to check into upship too.
Please keep your fingers crossed for Pudding. Poor girl has been through enough. She's coming to San Antonio tomorrow for a little vacation before her journey. (The Austin shelter is full, full, full)

When I was trying to make a deal with Sand's ppl, I was told that they may to film her too, while I don't want a film crew here at my house I told them I didn't care if they filmed her in TX, so you might be in that episode Fillyok.fillyok wrote:Sand is the chow coming from GA to TX. It's good to know you are diving back in the furpile again, Sean. Hopefully, we'll see some of you on the Discovery Channel ( or is that TLC?). Any news on the transport?

Re: Pudding: from Austin to Atlanta
Well I do have three now Auddymay, Marco has made himself right at home and is filling out nicely. No more feeling his rib bones, he is getting stout on his meal plan. With a some Chowness again in the yard, order has been restored to the neighborhood and all are being watched and spotted by my little watchman. And fur is all over the house....
I haven't heard back from the desired shipper, yet. I did get a random quote and nearly fell out of my chair laughing. I guess they want to fly her first class.
Looks like i will be going to get her myself, although real life and work keep jamming my schedule up... but she is going to be pulled today and put into boarding so at least she will be safe. I will most likely leave this Thursday....drive all the way through, get a room, pick her up in the am and drive all the way back. At least she and I will get some bonding time.

Best of luck to you, hope the trip will be enjoyable, does the Chow drive? You could share the trek back

Hi Sean
I’m so excited for you and happy for Pudding. She is so cute. I like her name. Are you planning to keep it?
I’m so sorry that trying to get her from there to your home is being so challenging and nerve wrecking. The end result will be well worth it. I know some of what you are going through. I went through a similar experience last October through early December. I rescued an older chow who was in Illinois and I live in Pennsylvania. Trying to coordinate the rescue and the trip was a Pepsi challenge. Needles to say the road trip was a success and “Santa paws” relayed Whitby to me on December 17th. Yes!
Fingers and paws crossed here that all will fall into place and Pudding will be home with you and her new “family” soon.
If you do drive to get her, have a safe trip and enjoy your “bonding” time with Pudding.
Take Care
Pam

Here's a pic of Pudding after getting to her temp foster home in San Antonio. Her owners said she didn't like other dogs, but she was having fun with her foster brother. She's a sweet girl and couldn't wait to get out of the shelter.

She is beautiful. And she was probably exhibiting guarding behavior at the other place. Lily is prone to that with me, but acts much more amiable when I am out of site.

Hi Sean,
Been curious and waiting to hear. Did you make the roadtrip to Austin to get Pudding? If so, how was the trip?
Is Pudding getting settled in with you and the rest of your furbabies?
Update please
Pam

Re: Pudding: from Austin to Atlanta
She is still in TX. After several failed attempts to get her to me on transport we have backed off for now. If Fillyok can re-home her there then so be it, or if we can figure out how to get her here then so be it. I got hit with a wave of out-of-state work and am now just getting used to being home for the time being. Also, there are many here in ATL/GA that need homes as well. I would still like to get her though.....I miss having Solo around and I feel like she would be a good fit for us. Marco is a good Chow-boy, but I need more Chow(bell)!
