a) Expect blind obedience
b) Do not have the time and patience to socialise and train it
c) Enjoy trekking up hills for miles every day
d) See a dog as an appendage to the household to be left alone for long periods and occasionally made a fuss of when you have some spare time
e) Are not prepared for the responsibility and serious commitment required during the 10-14 years of the dog's life (e.g. picking up and disposal of faeces - now required by law in all public places)
f) Are not prepared to wait for a puppy - Chows do not sit gift-wrapped on a shelf waiting for a buyer

I think it sums up chows rather well.

Stubborn?! FengHuang reacts slower than a glacier. She does respond, but she really can't see what the all-fired urgency is, unless of course you have a small furry creature for sport that she might find tasty. Then she's like military predator drone, fast and lethal. ShenLung though for the most part is very responsive, just very excitable which some days is so much worse.

I think it sums up chows rather well.

My chow would strongly disagree with this one. He prefers to impersonate an appendage of the house, mainly a large shaggy rug laying in the middle of the room. When, on the occasions when he feels like playing, he will let you know. And he will demand that you play with him.

I have to agree with VelvetJones!!!! 100% spot on!!! No one gets to play with chowlie until CHOWLIE says so! hahahahah!
unless its time for walkies, because in my chowlies book - everytime should be walkie-time!
