I knew that you had been unemployed and had been diligently looking for another job but didn’t realize how long it had been for you. Good things come to those who wait and you certainly have been waiting a while.

As I read your latest post I mentally did a happy dance! What a great early Christmas present that will keep on giving! Another plus is now you won’t have to move from your apartment with the patio doors & view your furbabies enjoy into a car with limited space and windows.

Thanks everyone. I'm enjoying my final days off here, and getting a few things done and ready. Now that I'm employed I can relax and do these things.

The Chowdren are going to be so happy, they'll be getting their better food again, (we all went on emergency cheaper rations) And that will make me happier too.

Victory, I remember reading this thread but kinda thought you found work along time ago. Congratulations on finding employment as many people have gone through tough times in the past years. I believe true character is shown through bad times not good times, That being said, yours is great.

Well.............. After my big announcment and all my excitment. That job didn't materialize. I would have been working IT support for a retail chain. I think they didn't do as well as they wanted during the holiday season, and then the whole "fiscal cliff" thing went on, and now we have the "debt ceiling" thing, so they decided not to hire any body. So I was back to looking, and today I got hired for a short term contract, (Ithat may become longer or even permanent) It is weird, that I can't really even get excited about it. It is a better paying job, better hours, (I got to chose my own) and less than 2 miles from where I live.

But I'm waiting to get excited until I set foot in the place...once bitten twice shy I guess.

I drive for ups and deliver in the Crystal/New Hope area which is very close to you. If I can do anything just ask and I'll do what I can. That being said its been very cold the last couple of days around here, not above 0 either day. But those pkgs must get delivered and Brutus stayed out for a hour in the morning both days. Which at that time was -14 degrees Fahrenheit.

Victory, hang in there. I know the contract jobs arent the best, my wife is in same situation. 22 years with same company before layoff. Fortunately for us, generous package, so no real rush to settle for something she doesnt want, and the temp jobs keep her busy. Keep telling her she needs to learn to show Rory and what i save on handling will equal her old pay...lol. And with new pup on the way, we could be ahead.

I started the new job today. First six days is all training. It was really good and pretty easy to pick up. I think I'm going to like this. Even if I'm not real thrilled with the commute at the moment. But I'll get used to it, (walking and buses, YUCK).

I worked that job until the end of the contract, just six weeks, and managed to pay the rest of Nov, all of Dec and Jan, rent. I still owed Feb and March, I was looking and looking for a new assignment, and then I got sick, but even in the hospital I kept looking. When I got home I found a notice for an eviction hearing, which I went to, (three days later) and got a week to pay the back rent. That week is over now, today, I expect to be escorted out of my apartment tomorrow, (hopefully I'll be able to take care of my medical needs first).

Two days after leaving the hospital, I went on a job interview a 2 hour bus ride away, today I learned I didn't get the job. I can't get any help from any govt. agency or emergency agency, (no human kids I guess).

I am running out of ways to cope with all this...

Oh dear, Victory! I'm so sorry to hear about what's going on. I wish there was something I could do to help but I'm afraid my Minneapolis connections have been all but lost over the years. Please, please don't give up hope. Double Purple kisses from our boys!!

Oh Victory, When I read this, a wave of total sadness washed over me. I wish there was something I could do to help you. As Sarahloo asked, do you have friends or relatives nearby who could share some living space with you or help you out. If you attend or belong to a church, perhaps there might be someone there who could help you or give you someone to contact. You said you can’t get help from any govt agency or emergency agency. Do you have a welfare (public assistance) office or Catholic Charities near to you? We have them here and I know they have helped people down on their luck and don’t have human children.

Please don’t give up. Gotta think positive. I know that is easier said than done. I’ve been through some really tough times myself. I just kept trudging on, and at times, feeling like I had to stretch to reach up just to touch bottom.

My heart goes out to you! You are in my thoughts and prayers big time!

How are things going, Victory? I hope you are doing better.

I managed to get almost all the money I needed to stay, so they let me because I'm working on it. The county is really being a pain, I keep getting told I need this form or that form, or another. My nurses and clinic are all asking when the medical assistance will click in...

I'm still trying to get more help with the back rent. Here all the agencies seem to have their own little areas they service, and they don't cross lines, so it makes it hard, but I'm trying. Still working on getting a job too. Waiting to hear from four places and I have four new ones to apply to this weekend.

I've also given up on the IT support thing, there are just too many of us and too few jobs, so I contacted four schools about learning to be a Pharmacy Technician, I went to talk to two of them last week and decided on one. I applied for finacial aide and that came through already, (I couldn't believe how fast it was processed) I go back to the school next tuesday to set up everything and start on July 8th. All the classes, (there are just 10 of them) are on line, with a couple requiring me to come into a lab once a week. In 9 months I should be done and pass my certification test then I can start a new career as a Pharmacy tech, making just about the same as I was as a IT support person.

I'm staying positive, because some things are working, my health has improved outstandingly, I have a new plan, and so far I have a place to live. Now if I could just find some job for the next 10 months, things will be very good. Busy but good, and I like busy anyway.
