Sugar, one of the Lancaster Chows that survived living in horrid conditions was rushed to the emergency room last Friday. She was vomiting all morning and just not acting right. Her foster Mom called and said she was bringing her to be checked. We ...were back and forth on the phone with what we should do. The first Vet thought she might have something stuck in her stomach but x-rays showed nothing. He sent them on to another Vet and they didn't see anything either. They decided to get a third opinion and I'm glad they did. The radiologist in San Diego read the x-rays... she called immediately and said "linear foreign body - get this dog in surgery before intestine dies." So, Sugar was rushed into surgery. They found a long string in her intestine which caused it to "bind", like an accordion. Surgery went well.

The total bill was $2,846.33. Unfortunately we do not have that kind of money in rescue but with all this darling little Chow Chow has been through we needed to save her.
