Holiday fun - post your yard decorations

Post by Dogdad »

hi everyone,

I got bored so snapped some yard holiday decorations. In our neighborhood it is like Christmas with the Kranks, Everyone tries to outdo eachother, Yes it is tacky but the kids are still young so it is good clean fun.

Desi, great pictures, Your house looks great. We have an inflatable santa on a plane with moving propellor on the roof but it doesn't show up well. It is hard to believe that only 23 days left until Christmas.

I just got home from a quick walk with Bear, Ping and Sammy. There's one house in the neighborhood that puts Clark Griswold to shame. I'll have to get a pic. I'm a scrooge and don't decorate. :(

I don't even want to think about Christmas. I am unprepared, more so this year than any other. I am in a funk and can't shake it. I still have my icycles up from last year, does that count as decorating? Both your houses are nice, if the weather gets above freezing in the next week, I may give it a try. I think the fact that it is cold now has me in my grinch gloom.

Boy I wish someone tried to decorate. Out of my entire subdivision, I think there are 5 houses with any sort of decorations, nevermind like the Cranks. That was always my favorite part of christmas. Our family used to drive around town to see all the houses lit up, seems like less and less houses are decorating these days. We're also in FL now so there's no snow to go with it but no excuse of it being too cold to put things up!

It must be a snow thing or else I live in a city with a bunch of scrooges, except for sales adds in the paper I wouldn't even know Charismas was coming no one has decorated their homes yet. I guess 100 degree weather doesn't do much for the Christmas spirit.

And of course there's a tree and all sorts of other stuff inside

I have always decorated. There was a year where I moved into a new house on Christmas Day and I put decorations in my largest house plant.
There was a year where my soon to e ex was on the couch dead drunk, and we were in the middle of a divorce and I really didn't feel like it,but I had 3 kids so I did the tree anyway. He was calling me names the whole time,so the ornaments I liked went in the tree and the ones he had picked went straight to him, most of those hit him in the head and boy did that get me in the xmas spirit
Other years I had to settle for a 2 ft fake tree,or just the nativity set,but I always did something.
A shitty xmas is still beter than no xmas at all :)

I need a new camera...a few pictures of our street's decorations - the local newspaper was here tonight taking pictures, too:

Our "new neighbors" have the coolest lights that change colors plus they have music to go along with...we get plenty of street traffic.
