Hi Guys,

We are new to the forum, we have recently got our first chow. Her name is Kita!

I just wanted some to know what age your dogs were when you started letting them use stairs if you have any, i have read in a few places that 6 months seems to be a good age and would really like to see what other people who have chows think :)

This is her!

They vary greatly as they develop their coordination. If possible, i would limit stair access to those spots they really need to access. Outdoor steps made of concrete or with a decent grip are ok. Indoor steps of hardwood, slippery surfaces will only create problems. The momentum needed for them to climb, combined with the slip factor is only asking for a blown knee or hip.

Give some more info on your pup? Some unique colorings.

Thanks for your reply!

Her mum is black and her dad is cream. She is extremely active and likes to bite everything in sight!

my boy is 15 weeks and will come down out of the car and off the step down but will not go DOWN the basement stairs (about 12 steps)...he'll go up without a problem though.
....he hates the basement.
