The only way to ensure that a dog is pure bred, is to obtain the certificate from the registered association that reputable breeders and/or owners will have. The AKC or CKC track the lineage of all pure bred breeds. If a buyer wants a purebred dog, they must do their homework and NOT buy dogs online, sight unseen. There are so many scammers out there now, posting photos of cute Chows, not having a Facebook page, and not providing any background paperwork. They just want the money and then they disappear. Be careful.
