Rescue full blooded foster Chow! Can't figure out his color? Anyone know?

Post by PrincessFox »

Rescued this senior baby from the shelter, and am fostering him until he finds his forever home. I've never see a chow this color. Any breeders know the technical breed color?ImageImage

He'll be considered a blue chow. He was most likely kept outside because his fur discolored as such. A good grooming, good quality food, his blue coat will most likely return. Thank you for fostering him.

Agreed. He is naturally a blue chow. Black chows have a more solid dark shade, while blues tend to have a silver hue towards the fur tips. He was likely left outside in the sun. This is called coppering and the sun has bleached out his fur.

Oh ok! That makes sense! I would have never considered him to be an iteration of blue as my pup is blue and looks nothing like him! Thank you guys so much!
