Luckys' leg hotspot
Hi Fellow Chow-parents!
I am Lester, newly joined in here with my chow, Lucky, 10 months old. We are from the Makati City, Philippines.
Baby lucky has a hotspot in his left hind leg, they say it's because its summer season in here now.
I am worried because it seems it's spreading and extending, how long does he have to suffer from this?
I am continuously cleaning his wound day and night. My heart melts whenever I hear him cry upon putting antibacterial ointment on.

Everything is gonna be alright. Listen to the doctor. Btw he is such a cute puppy..
Re: Luckys' leg hotspot
Maybe try to change the doctor. I'm not sure if it should be like this for such a long time...
Re: Luckys' leg hotspot
Most often hotspots are from diet check the health section forum _ food fillers like corn other grains.

Re: Luckys' leg hotspot
Wow, usually the dome of shame works...
Since we have no photos of the suspect area, its tough to say whether its a true hot spot, or just and area he pulled at out of boredom or another skin issue. Although diet can play a role, hotspots are usually just an area that was itchy and the dog repeatedly pulls at it causing a topical infection. Dry skin is usually the initial problem and can also be caused by climate, allergens, etc. Poor diet tends to create a much broader scope of skin/fur issues.
The vet should have prescribed a topical spray to take care of the infection, inflammation and itch. Make sure to apply as directed. The cone should stop him from being able to reach the area with his mouth.

Sorry didn't see your post earlier. I live in San Pedro, Laguna.
Summer and hot spots are in no way correlated. if they spread it is most likely dietary.
There is a lot of info in the health forum
Simba had hot spots at that age due to wrong diet.
Avoid wheat first of all, which is unfortunately in most treats and cheaper dry food.
I would look for another doctor if they tell you summer is causing hot spots.
Contact me anytime if you need more help also via mail.
