My chow puppy slams elbow: Please HELP

My 8 month old chow chow (Solomon) is the best thing that has ever happened to us. He is super friendly with other dogs and people. He is stud of my neighbourhood. Everyone knows him and love him. He has many friends in the neighbourhood whom he visit every morning on his morning walk. I have no complaints what so ever about him. I do however have a concern. He slams his elbow every time he gets down on the floor to sit or sleep. I have hardwood floor in my house, so every time he gets down to sit or sleep, his elbow bangs on to the floor, and it's loud enough that I hear it clearly. IS THIS NORMAL for chows? I am concerned that the repeated impact on his elbows can negatively affect him long term. Has any one experienced this with their chow?? I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks a lot.
