Jeff, Jennifer, you guys rock! Glad to hear she's drank & eaten. She probably needs good time before she actually trusts someone again. Have you put a collar & tag on her just in case she finds a way out of your yard? It might be difficult as ACE is wearing off, and I say this w/o the knowledge of your fencing system, as you know chows are great escape artists. Do keep us updated. Thank you again.

Good Job Guys! My cable has been out so I am just getting caught up with my reading....

Well at least shes eating and drinking now, some sleep time off the drugs and some peace and quiet will bring her out of her shell. Being in another dogs yard though can be stressful. Need to find her a foster home asap.

Wow, way to go! I think you are right, I realize you don't have a lot of time but serving her and letting her observe and feel independent from her corner of the yard will build her trust. I got a chow off the street that way and fairly quickly. I made a little table covered with blankets that made a little private house for one and he warmed up to it quite quickly. Then I slowly inched it to my porch (when he wasn't in it) until I finally had it right by my front door and I'd go out to take his food and water and he'd be in it just looking at me. When the people who adopted him came to take him, they took the little "house" too. He ended up doing great and lived happily with the people's first chow. I think finding someone with a happy well adjusted chow to rehome her is key. Anyway, bravo!! and patience, patience, patience. You are going to have to think creatively which should be no problem for you.

With Molly the advice was to leave her in the kennel for a few days, go in and sit there, talk to her but dont go to her. Allow her to decide she can trust. It didnt take Molly long but she was only on the run for 2 weeks, not a year and she wasnt kept drugged up like this poor girl has been.
How is she doing today Jeff?

Yes, Jeff how is she today???
Did you find anyone to take her???
Fence still intact???
How is Pekoe doing with her there today???
I am soooo glad she ate and drank some water.....
Weren't you and Jennifer supposed to take her to the Vet and get her groomed??? How in the world will you get to do that, if she won't come to you????
Be careful, don't need any more teeth marks on your arms and hands.......

I just called 6 rescues they are all full and can't take her so this isn't going to be an easy task getting her rescued.

Can someone take the pictures I posted and make a rescue post for her in Chows in need, you guys know her story, your better at putting the post together and wording it then me.

right now she is laying under a tree in a corner and won't come out, she is covered in sappy stuff that falls off the tree. One of the rescues told me not to feed her for awhile 3 cups of food after not eating for a week I guess is to much food.

Another problem is she's not a full Chow so its even going to be harder getting her rescued and at the moment she is so afraid of everyone she isn't adoptable.

Jeff, that is so tragic, 6 rescues filled to capacity. No wonder why some of the dogs spoken on the forum are in shelters. I am not sure what can be done, Do you have non-kill shelters in L.A. or surrounding communities. Hopefully someone has the home and heart to save this little girl

Jennifer just came and took her out to a Rescue she had been talking to, Its in Culver City.

Here's what I have had to look at all day and night since yesturday. I put some chairs and a table with a blanket so she would have a place to hide, she never left the spot.

I am happy Jennifer found a rescue to take her. I hope she does okay with them and becomes adoptable. Did she go with Jennifer okay?

The pictures make me want to cry. The poor girl definitely deserves a safe home with people who have the means to work with her. Hopefully the rescue will keep Jennifer and/or you updated with her progress.

Really glad that she's into a rescue. She looks so sad under that tree

Which rescue is she at?

I can help post flyers in Burbank and Brentwood, if you have one. Or.. I am willing to make one, if you can send me the pictures. I think you guys have done such a beautiful thing in helping this chow.

Regarding the lady, do you feel it is worth calling Humane Society to have them check on the other dogs and this lady's use of ACE on dogs? I keep wondering how many more she has..

Another thought, can you get the Skippy Foundation's rescue recognition pulled somehow? Perhaps she's getting the ACE on account of that, or just ordering it on account of her Dr. qualifier?

Awww. It was nice of you to take her for as long as you could, Jeff. And she looks once she gets groomed she'll be absoutely gorgeous.

The city knows about her, When we were there I looked at the other dogs and gave them treats. the ones that I could see all looked fine. How many times do you see 15 dogs stand in line waiting thier turn to get a treat then walk off with it while the other dogs waited their turn so I think she is doing fine with the dogs. This Chow needs special attention and She knows nothing about Chows, thats why the drugs. I think she is ok with the dogs she has but this dog will be much better off in a home by it self.

At the moment this dog is even afraid of bird cherps or any noise, The guy next door started his lawn mower and the dog freaked. The lady that had him dosn't have the time this Chow will need to come around but I think if its just left alone and let it come out on its own terms like most Chows I think she will be a great dog for someone all she needs is for people to leave her alone and a secure place for a week or two.

I just wish all these pictures could end up in the hands of the original owner. Make them have to sit there and look at what they did, but people like that wouldnt feel guilt anyway. How sad. I wonder if some of this is still effects of the drugs. Well the people at the rescue know her story, they will know how to help her and hopefully she'll be ok. I sure hope they keep you and Jennifer updated on how she is doing.

I was thinking the same....she will look beautiful with her dark and light coloring, once she's groomed and has had time see the benefits of eating well again.

Poor thing.

PB or not, she is a very attractive girl. I hope she would find someone with plenty of love, time & care to give to her. Thanks Jeff, thank you Jennifer. I googled animal rescue in Culver City, seems they have three, I wonder which one. Oh, I wish the rescue will keep us posted on the fate of the poor girl.

Jennifer and Jeff, THanks again, Great job in finding her a rescue. I hope they can help her heal and find a home for her. Do they have a website? If so then perhaps we will see her again, and hopefully in the adopted list. As for the original owner seeing what he/she did, I doubt that person would even care. In this case the Human is more animal than the chow.

It's so great to read this, (my laptop is really acting up lately). Jeff and Jenn you both did an awesome job getting her. She'll need some time to recover from the over drugging, which is probably causing the overly skittish behavior, I don't know a lot about ACE but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it's NOT supposed to be used over the long term.

She looks to be a brindle, like one of the other chows on the site...I want to say Chyno, but I may have the name wrong.

Chris, I think you're right it's Ciobella and her Sophie, Sophie the former feral chow and her three puppies.

Jenn and Jeff....I think everyone here is taking their hat off to you guys today. This is one for the record books. I for one am very proud of this community today.

My heart is full of this girl...I pray she finds the love she so desparately needs!

How did you guys get the chow to go into a vehicle to be taken to the rescue? Just curious how the chow handled it all.

Everytime we move her we have to wrap a blanket around her and carry her to the Car. That is the most non-violent Chow or any dog that I have ever seen. She hates the leash and will fight it,, she fights it when you try to move her but no matter what you do even with her fighting you she will not bite or snap. Pekoe would have killed us both by now. Its like she is scared to death but no matter what won't bite or growl. She Refuses to look you in the eye but will watch every move you make, if you turn and look at her no mater how far away she will turn her head to avoid Eye contact.

She fights everything you do from fear but no matter what will not turn on you.

Its still not over yet, Jennifer wasn't for sure the rescue was even going to take her or if the Rescue is the right place to leave her. I'm waiting for her to call to see what happened.
