Shelby's new doo!..not too happy

Post by shannlee379 »

I took my chowling to the groomer that was referenced to me by the trainer. I went in and told her I would like her to get a trim on her body and a good heygenic cut on her back side. This is how she came home....

After two weeks...

This is what she looked like before she left...

Please tell me it will grow back right?!!

It doesn't look like the groomer has to much experience with grooming Chows, It looks like she does a lot of yapper dogs and tried to turn Shelby into one. A one cut only type of groomer. Pekoe has had worse, it will grow back.

When I say worse I mean down to pure white skin, not one piece of hair on her. They told me to leave her even though i told them i shouldn't but they said it would be better. When i went to pick her up One pure white down to the skin shaved bald Chow, the only hair in sight was on the floor. They said they couldn't handle her so had no choice. It all grew back, don't know if it grew back right but she looks like a Chow. I regret never taking any pictures of that kodak moment.

Don't be too upset. Shelby is adorable. Think of it this way, you're household spring cleaning got easier and your vacuum won't get clogged up as quickly! Shelby's doo is also known as a "puppy cut" and that's what groomer's mean when they ask or hear an owner ask for a "hygenic" trim (aka 1/2 inch to an inch from the skin type of trim - a lion cut leaves 1/4 inch of fur from the skin). It will grow in nicely. Don't worry. Shelby wasn't shaved down to the skin. That's when it can be unnerving since the needed coat was shaved off and depending on the chow can have the possiblity of not growing back. My Miss Pooh Bear had a medical cut (that's shaved barenaked) and her fur grew back in quite lush.

She is still a doll. It's the to the skin cuts that can be a problem. I think Shelby will be fine.

Tell Shelby she is still adorable. Nanook was shaved to the skin because of the mange and it grew back, no problem. It's twice as thick now but it's still full. You are a kind person for not taring that groomer apart.

Poor little Shelby! She still looks darling though, and with time she'll get back to normal.

AWWWW She still looks adorable!!!! It will grow back in no time!!! Reminds of the first time I took Kearra who is black to the groomer and they cut her hair around her bullseye (rectum) I was so upset cuz everytime she turned around and walked away.....it was all you could see.....Here's my bullseye.....worse part was she never got poop back there until they cut her hair and since it grew back no more hyigene problems for her  Its almost as upsetting for your Chow to get a bad cut as it is when someone gives you one, isn't it???
