BALD SPOTS...

Post by popoki112 »

my chow is 10 months and is shedding CRAZY. i posted before and got the impression it was normal for a chow to blow their coats as much as my chow was. Today, i noticed a spot on her side that appeared to be bald. Is it because adult fur is growing or is it something i should really worry about?

it looks normal, but the hair around the bald spot is shedding too, so i don't want the bald spot to grow!

How big is the bald spot? And is it totally bald?

the bald spot isn't that big, maybe the size of a silver dollar, it's not a perfect circle either. Its not completely bald, but probably 90% It stands out when you look at her and the rest of her fur, which is how i first noticed it.

Do you notice her itching? When Holden used to have his allergy problem, he would itch one spot until it was bald. He had these areas particularly around his hips.

we went to the vet and our vet said she's blowing coat. The reason why it' so much, more than usual is that chows have two types of fur, slick and cotton. She has both for some reason. haha.. so she should blow massive coat every 6 months.. lucky me!

as I know...when a chow is blowing its coat...It doesn't necessarily mean that there will be bald spots....

My baby has bald spots also...but my vet said that it was the fungus thing going on....the bald spots r as big as coins, kinda overly pink....and has dandruff around it...well, U might want to describe more on ur chows' skin condition

as far as the blowing coat is concerned, it wont make bald spots on certain areas...thats wat I know, maybe some otha fella can share some thought in this matter
