Best tools for grooming puppy fur?

Post by Bob »

I have a selection of grooming tools. I am not sure what is best while she has her puppy fur.

We like to use the rake and a wiggle comb on Ai Shu.

The rake gets the under coat and the wiggle comb gives him a nice finsh.

Wiggle comb - has wire pins mounted to the comb frame and they are mounted as to be able to spin and move side to side.

Rake is good when they are shedding their undercoat.
This works for both adult and puppy fur...

You want a soft slicker brush...

and a Greyhound comb...

When brushing the coat, lift up a large section of hair and brush, every time you brush you pull down another layer of hair. This is called line brushing and it makes sure you get down to the skin.

You are not going to get through smoothly with a fine toothed comb on a chow. The greyhound comb has two ends, a fine and wide. Use the fine toothed end for his ears, front feathers, rear, and tail. Use the wide toothed section through the rest of the body. It should go through fairly smoothly when you are done. Always use the slicker first, the comb is your checking and finishing tool.

Use a long-pinned undercoat rake for when he is shedding the clumps of undercoat...
