Hi i am looking for some advise. My male 2 and a half year old chow boss is going bald.its not just him shedding and blowing his coat.It started at about 12 months old and is getting worse every day. The hair comes out right from the root in big clumps with what i would describe as little balls at the end almost flakey. It comes away from the skin leaving him completly bald.He now has no hair all along top of back at his necck and now starting on belly.
We have been to the vets numerous times and also to a skin specialist with no luck atall. Boss has had lots of tests and biops witj nothing showing up .
We have tried changing up foods but that doesnt help either hes had just meat ..no grain..dry food at the moment we are trying tripe cans but doesnt seem to be helping either .
Bosw is not itching at his skin and is healthy apart from this .
If anyone has been in a similar situation or knows what this could be i would be grateful for any information .

Thanks x

I don't have any idea about a balding dog. This issue is probably out of skin infection. According to a survey, 90% of the dog suffer from some kind of skin infection at some time. I have found an article which I think you should read. Take your chow chow to a good vet if he continue shedding his hair for longer than one week.

I have a female Chow that is just about 3 years old. She has never held fur well and pulls/chews at herself quite a bit. I recently used a medicated oatmeal spray on my 2 year old male for a hotspot. It worked great, so I tried it on the female. So far, so good. Her hip fur is growing in nicely, and her skin doesn't seem as rough. Just a thought. Fairly cheap spray and might be worth a try.

I had to look it up since I move all my grooming products to spray bottles. The one is used I got from Petco. It's the Well & Good Oatmeal Medicated Spray. On the website, the have it for $7.00

Pretty sure that's a Petco brand, so I would think that similar products would do fine.
