Odd patch of fur on back

Saja has course, long fur on his back that sticks out from the rest and looks kind of awkward. It started as a small patch as he was growing up, and now it has taken over most of the top half of his back. Does anyone else's chow have this? I am thinking about taking him into the groomers and seeing if they can trim it even with the rest of his fur... kind of a shaping I guess.

Leave it alone, as he grows there will be more of it, the adult outer coat is often different than the puppy coat. Not all chows have the standoff coats the show chows have.
