Chowbrador Health Questions
Hello All!
Recently adopted a yellow lab/chow mix. I am new to chows as a breed and have been reading up on chow health concerns. I would love any input regarding health issues in this particular mix. So far she's had conjunctivitis and a mild skin infection (apparently not uncommon for puppies) but I'm trying to think long term about health issues and what kind of prevetion/regular care can be done. Getting to know the chow breed has been very exciting! Thank you for your input

The addition to Lab in his genetic make-up can actually be a good thing for you. Mixed breed dogs are stronger and less prone to genetic defects and sickness. Their immune system will also be better. Chow Chow's are prone to hip/elbow dysplasia, eye entroption, hot spots, demodex mange and fungal infections.
Both breeds though are prone to hip dysplasia, hypothyroidism and obesity.
