Hot Spots

Hello all,
Ted my 10 month old Chow Chow is now developing his 4th hot spot, previously they have been treated with steroids/antibiotics and cream from the vet, paired with shaving the hair around it to allow it to breathe.
He is fed mainly on James Wellbeloved- http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/ ... enic%2522#
In addition we mix some chicken thighs or mince beef in with it. Treats are dentastix, schmackos and sometimes cheese.
Anyone have any advice to offer? Should probably add that he is shedding profusely at minute, does get brushed 2-3 times per week and dried if he gets wet.
Really don't want to see him on any more steroids, when he gets one he will not leave it alone and ends up removing a lot of hair- however he gets very distressed by the head collar
Thanks in advance,
Sinead & Ted
