Tartar preventative
Has anyone had success with the gels available that are said to eliminate tartar on dogs teeth. I have started using a brand called Tropiclean Fresh Breath. The company says it will work if you apply it directly on the teeth. I found that my dogs did not accept this method of application, so I put a strip of gel on my finger and quickly apply it to their teeth. Tropicleans method of applying I think would contaminate the bottle and start bacteria growing in it. 
I gave up on trying to brush Leo's teeth after slowing progressing from fingers in the mouth, to dog tooth paste on the finger and thats where I stopped. Zoey; did not even try. Leo has more of a problem with tartar build up on his back teeth and he does not do well after a dental cleaning at the Vet, whines like he is sore.
