I was wondering if anyone could let me know if there is someway I could find a website that would tell me if a vet specializes in Chows in my area. I am currently going to a vet & he seems ok, but I might be better off going to one that knows what to look for in Chows specifically. Thanks for your help.

I assume you are in the US? You have your location field blank.....

I don't know if there is a vet that specializes in Chows as such, but as a starter for finding a better vet, take a look at this link of AAHA and try finding a vet near your area.
main page:

AAHA certificate does not guarantee that the vets at the practice are all good, but you must start/limit the search somewhere. I did the search just to see whoelse are certified and saw all three nearest me are. Of which one I've taken LEO and did not like, the other I know the reception area and staff and do not like. LEO's current vet practice is on there and of the 6 vets that work there, there are three vets I really like.

Also I recommend asking your fellow dog walkers in the area. That is how I found my current vet after trying 2 other practices. All AAHA certified, first one I did not like the two vets we had, the second one the excellent vet passed away, sadly.

I suppose you could ring to ask if there are vets that are not fearful of chows and would happily see a chow. Receptionists, if they are good, would try to match you up with a better vet since it would make life easier for all parties involved.

Good luck!

Word of mouth really is the best way. I asked numerous people for vet recommendations. The most number of people liked our vet so I brought her there and to my surprise, our vet owns a chow too!
