If he's teething, the foul odor is from his bleeding gums and any food particles caught in the gum pockets. Try cleaning his mouth with chlorhexidine doggie dental wipes, at least. Does he have any teething chewies?

How long have you been giving him greenies, He may not be eating because of those they take for ever to digest thats if they digest and some dog have died from them by clogging up the digestive systems. I would stop the greenies and get some natural healthier treats. Chows don't hord food and mostly only eat when they are hungry so when you give them all those treats why eat they are full.

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (CNN) -- At least 13 dogs have died after being fed the top-selling pet treat in the country, owners and veterinarians have told CNN.

The problem comes because the treats, called Greenies, become lodged in a dog's esophagus or intestine and then some veterinarians say they don't break down.

"I know they are marketed in saying that they do digest. Certainly the ones that we've taken out, esophageal or intestinal, that have been in for days are still very hard," Brendan McKiernan, a board-certified veterinary internal medicine specialist from Denver, Colorado, told CNN. My pups eat Hundenflocken also and I give them some chlorophyl in their water (you can get it at a Nature shop) and it works perfectly.

It's also good for them.

That's Kawani's dept but Natural treats are again no wheat, corn or by products. My post was mostly warning you about greenies. In other words no junk foods or junk treats, just like kids, gotta watch the junk foods. I give Pekoe an occasional Beggin strip (looks like Beacon) which is junk treats all the way but its only maybe once a week if that,

The greeies like it says takes along time to digest, if they are still in the stomach and your Chow eats he probably will get sick then may not eat at all.

I don't go by what Pekoe will eat or won't eat, I know she will eat a pound of cheese or a bag of Lays chips or anything out of the park trash cans and bushes, I give her what I think is healthy (Nutro)if she doesn't eat it then she starves, the food is there so eat it. If Pekoe dosn't eat for two days thats her problem over that then it becomes my problem. I've never had a problem with her eating but if I give her one treat she won't eat her reguler food. No matter how much they don't like what you give them they will eat when they get hungry enough, if they are filled with treats why eat, there's more treats coming they will wait.

I'm talking about a healthy Chow not a Chow that won't eat because of being sick thats a differant story.

I hope you will find good food for your Hugo in Singapore.
Coco doesn't have bad breath and she nearly has no treat. I'm paranoid
she'll scratch if I give her doggy treats so she just has some plain cheese
after her daily brushing and she loves it.

Hugo must have grown a lot since the picture in your signature has been
taken. Will you post an updated picture of him soon?
