Sophisticated Palate????
I was wondering if anyone's chow dog out there has unusual food favorites...
Mikka absolutely loves (in order of preference)
#1 Humbolt Fog cheese (locally made goat's cheese)
#2 Cheese with black or white truffle (she prefers black)
#3 Pistachio Nuts
#4 Farmhouse Brie
How's that for attitude?

Call me a dummy, but is that truffle, chocolate?
White Chocolate or dark chocolate?
I'm asking, because chocolate is toxic to dogs.
So, I'm hoping the "truffle" has some other meaning and I'm just missing it?
**Who doesn't like chocolate, huh?
Dogs love it, but it is a slow poison for them.

i guess im pretty lucky, my packs favorite human food is cheese doodles.lol. we cant open a bag without the three of them lining up.
bama, truffles are actually form of mushrooms. very expensive to be exact. they can only be found in certain parts of the world. they can go for as much as 80 bucks a pound im pretty sure. there is also truffle oil, that can be used for cooking and salads, also pretty costly.
wow, your dog does have good taste!!!

My Italian friend marvels about truffle from Italy, very expensive. Truffle is just a word, can be chocolate, or a mexican psychadelic mushroom.
I'd be cautious with pistachio (sp) nuts, the ones I buy are salted. Mikki chow will eat anything. She's not selective. She hates her kibble, that's my fault, when she came here, she ate her kibble, I am the one who got her used to treats.

I never tried her out on different cheese, only Trader Joe's string cheese, organic when they have it. The thing about cheese is that it is very salty, & I don't really trust the less salty kind as it can have something else more unnatural added. Call me old fashioned, but I still can't allow myself to have artificial sweetners. But that list looks so good, I might go down to the Ferry Building and look for those at the cheese shop there
LEO quite likes dried cranberries, I tend to keep her away from the nuts, as some can be toxic and I am too lazy/dumb to remember which....macademia for sure, almonds as well....
As for truffles, I use white truffle oil to make egg dishes(scrambled, omletts, sunnyside up(a bit drizzled on top)). LEO has no problems what so ever with that....

Millie loves strawberrys, She only gets tiny bits but she goes mad for it. ALso roasted chicken!
Java will eat anything Millie has & nothing that I put in his bowl
I have to feed / treat them with me inbetween. I'm quickly getting the feeling that Java is not the submissive guy I was told about More about him later

Thank you Elodie!
Hmmmm...
Well of course Dakota used to love cheese of all kinds, she was even known to gobble down some saurkraut now and then and she also loved grilled salmon. Other than that, she never ate any fruits or vegetables, would turn her nose up at them.
By the way, how big is Mikka? In that picture she looks absolutely HUGE!

WOW! I thought Sid was spoiled! I guess I should let him eat different "stuff" LOL... The only thing different he gets is extra hamburger and brown rice in his kibble. He HATES the SG Wolf Cub puppy food. He won't eat it no matter WHAT I add. He loves cottage cheese though. OH and scrambled egg whites. I haven't tried yogurt yet.
Sardines, NOPE
Salmon or salmon oil, NOPE
I guess he's not a fish eater. hahaha...
HEY, maybe THAT'S why Sid doesn't like the Wolf Cub!!

At the appointed time Princess Leela takes her seat in the canine dining area and waits patiently to be served, leaving just enough space between her front legs for her server (yours ever so truly ) to quickly and quietly slide her meal right under her nose
SHE'S not spoiled
She likes most things, especially if someone else is eating it. Sardines, salmon, tuna, chicken, cheese, eggs, rice, green beans, carrots, peas, yes and even spinach!! What a healthy little gal!!!
All three of my kids LOVE POPCORN and will sit lined up...1,2 3....heads tilted, ears alert, eyes targeting the hand that dips into the bowl for those golden kernals.
Guess for all the fine dining habits my kids kinda like good ole' regular farm girl food!

I have the chow that will eat anythign that is edible by human/chow consumption.
Funny thing the other day. My husband dropped a couple of spinach leaves on the floor from a salad he was making. Riley went over to inspect since he figured it was food. Took one good look at it and walked away.
Guess he doesn't like veggies like me

Here's some info re truffles. I'd say a bit pricey to feed to a chow chow.bama wrote:Yep, I guess ya'll can see I ain't no so-fis-tee-ket?
I didn't know truffle is a mushroom? I thought the only truffle was chocolate.
Where does one find this fancy mushrooms?
