A new month, a new kibble brand
Coco has never been crazy about kibble.
After Royal Canin, Proplan, Solid Gold, Nutro and Platinum, we are trying Orijen.
She's fed twice a day: once in the morning (eggs or fish or chicken only), and then kibble only in the evening.
I know there is no grain in Orijen (and that some of you don't recommand it). I am wondering if I could add something in her evening meal, like pasta or rice, white or brown, to make it more appealing and re-equilibrate the kibble?

Re: A new month, a new kibble brand
we too are trying another new food...but after careful consideration we have decided to go with Go Now grain free.
we read the ingredients and of course took into consideration the ideal amount of protein and fats...and well when we actually opened thi one it didn't stink like crazy!
she liked the first offering of it so we shall see!

Re: A new month, a new kibble brand
Well I realize it was a bit stupid to think about adding pasta or rice to a kibble which is supposed to be good because it has no grain.
But when Coco turns her nose on her kibble meal, I just feel so helpless.
Anyway, she was just having a few bad days, she's eating it again. She never likes when I mix 2 different dry foods together (I mix for the transition from 1 kibble to another) so maybe that was why....

Re: A new month, a new kibble brand
Why don't you feed her a mixture of kibbles & eggs/meat for morining & night? If I knew I always get juicier/tastier food in the morning, I might try to go w/o the dry stuff at night.... And it would taste better in the morning still because I'm hungy.....
I kinda feel sorry for my LEO that she is stuck w/ dog food w/o variation, so I rotate the canned or the Honest Kitchen freeze-dried I add to her soup of supplements. I also sometimes add cottage cheese or yogurt. The kibbles are hand fed on walks, what is left over from walks is added in to the soup these days. Does she dive into them? NO. I mainly have to spoon feed the soup, or at least start her w/ a spoonful or two to get her started. I confess I hold the bowl up for her, too. She might be a tad on the spoilt side.

Re: A new month, a new kibble brand
LEO is one of those lucky picky chow, isn't she.
It's because I was tired spoonfeeding Coco with fry food in the morning that she now has egg/fish/chicken only for breakfast. Hand feeding is a pain to do when you're sleepy. Now with no dry food at all in her 1st meal, she eats by herself. It's a relief...
I don't give her a lunch meal anymore, so she's more hungry for dinner. It used to work fine, but with the 2 dry food brands mixed together, and her pills treatment for her bald patches, she wasn't eating it anymore . I'm glad we're ok now.
And I don't want add egg/fish/chicken to her dinner because I'm affraid it will be too much proteins...
Picky picky chows!

Re: A new month, a new kibble brand
coco hows the new food working out??? miss Kira is LOVING her new food....and often when we switch she ends up with the scoots....but not this time.
Re: A new month, a new kibble brand
So do you like "Now"? I am thinking of giving it to my 7 months old Chow. He is now having Hills which I dont like after checking around. The problem is vet and most of the pet shops always recommend Hills to us and this is the first time we have dogs so we've been given him Hills for a while. It's time to give him a better food and a shop recommends "Now!" the Grain free puppy food to us. It's a new brand so would like to know more how's your Chow doing with the food. Thanks.
Re: A new month, a new kibble brand
my chow seems to love it and we like that it is grain free as she doesn't need a lot of the junk. try it for a while, but remember to mix it with the other stuff some
