Peeing. Marking? Advice appreciated from experienced owners

Post by Paddington »

Hi All- proud new owners of an 8 week old male pup in the UK - Paddington or Paddy!

He's great and we are really enjoying life with him

One question though - he is constantly marking - just small amounts of pee quite randomly. He tries at all costs to hold on in his crate at night not to pee - but will use a pee pad in there if necessary. Always pees in the same spot when we take him out to toilet in the garden...but doesn't seem to mind doind small pees indoors. We are sure it's a territory thing as he doesn't pee fully if you understand me.

Is this simply a time served thing? (He will "get it" eventually)
Will eventual neutering stop it?
Should we return him to his crate after such an accident - or maybe straight outside? Either way, he rarely pees when we move him after such an accident.

We really want to train him with the right methods, not confuse or distress him - your experience forum users would be really useful.

Many thanks!!!!

Chris and Laurie
