This post should answer the long standing question. Can Chows get along with kids? Of course the answer is yes. Everyone feel free to post as many pictures as you have or as you get them of your pups and kids.

I'll post pics later, but I was also thinking of commenting on cc.org, after a rousing afternoon (football) of loads of people, 2 approx. 1 year old kids and a 5 1/2 year gropping and playing with Kodi. She's just got the best temperment! I'm so proud.

Well, Haley is a teenager, and would be horrified to be in the chows and children section, but too bad, so sad. She constantly forces Lily to be handled like a foofoo-shishi, and Lily takes it. Lily never gets too playful, as is the Chow way. I know of several dogs who have gotten overly excited during play like this and ended up biting accidently. A Chow would never loose control when playing-heck many won't even play!

Nikita is just a puppy, but wanted to add it anyway. The picture was taken on the wrong setting, so I had to fix the best I could.

Victory, I thought at first that Lady was some sort of Pit. LucyDog and I discussed it several times, since she rescues Pit Bulls as well as an ocassional Chow. Our best guess is that Lady is a Blackmouth Cur. They are listed as a "rare breed" in some places, but are more common in the East Texas / Louisiana area where the Curs are popular hunting dogs. It still shocks me that she often draws more attention in public than Benny. I love her, but she just looks like a dog-dog to me. She used to live with some druggies down the highway until she adopted Benny and me, so I don't know much about her lineage.

yeah I love that one too. That's my niece Chase. She and Chewie were kind of on the same wavelength at that time. He was about 6 months old and everything that caught his attention caught her attention. They just kinda followed each other around the yard checking things out.

Thanks. It was not actually set up..... the girls had tea parties with ChiChing since we got him. The only thing that I did different this time was set the table where I could get a goo picture. But they 'partied' for over half an hour before my daughter, not the dog, got bored! LOL Now, my poor dog is the victim of a 4 and 7 yer old dress up attack.
I need to get pictures of them all dressed up. Poor Chi-Ching has been a princess, a cow girl, a cheerleader and so much more..... he would KILL me if he knew I was going to post pictures of him......aww but what kind of mum would I be if I didn't share?? I will see if I can get pics today.

I absolutely love all your photos!
The tea party is priceless.

Mandy, Chewie's black nostril is just tooooo cute. I just want to hug him!

And, Judy....that's exactly how Chandler use to act around food. He would patiently wait his turn. That photo of you feeding your two is great.

And, Chris...the photo of your chow that you have posted...he looks like he wants to start up a conversation with me. Looking at him makes me feel like I have a connection with him. He looks wiser than most people I know.

Thank you for sharing your photos. I love looking at all of them. They make me so happy. I miss my Chandler and Lucy sooooo much. Looking at the all your furry friends, makes me want another so bad.

If that guy from Texas ends up and gives up his new precious, you might be able to get him. I know you just lost beautiful Chandler, but maybe the Fates are at work here.

Mandy, I have meant to say this before, but I just LOVE Chewie's black claws. Pip's are black too, but they don't stand out on a black Chow. Chewie looks so GOTH...oops, my daughter says that he looks EMO, which I guess is a derivative of goth...who knew.

So EMO huh? Guess I'm getting a little old...

Everytime I looked at his little feet as a puppy, I cracked up. Those big old feet with the funny nails.
Now that he is older, they hide in his fur - but let me tell you how much I love them when I have to trim them... ugh.

Chewie said they are black to match his scary mommy...

Here's my Chandler. He was wonderful with children. He was kind and gentle.

I loved Chandler. Kids adored Chandler. He never got aggressive. He was just a great friend!

Hi again. This is a photo of Chandler and Lucy.
(Chandler is sleeping on the left, Lucy on the right)

I lost Lucy two years ago. I lost Chandler December 14th.
Lucy did not have the gentle soul that Chandler had. She was abused as a puppy.

At least, she was found in such horrible conditions and was so frightened, that I assumed they were cruel to her. Some may say it was bad breeding. All I know is, I had to get her out of there.

Lucy remained frightened all her life. I had her eight years. Her true love was Chandler. He meant everything to her. She seemed to have felt safe with him the minute I introduced them.

Lucy improved over the years, but never liked strangers. However, she never got aggressive with anyone. She would bark at strangers but always backed away from them.

We loved her and showed her respect. So, she was always kind back to us. I just wanted to share this photo to show that with love and understanding, even this frightened little lady never got aggressive or mean.
