Let Sleeping Dogs Lie ;)
we are just so in love with our 2-month old chowchow pup, nacho [named after 'nacho libre' since he too has a big belly]
i heard of stories about chowchows being aloof and irritable...but in our eyes, it's an obvious misconception.
raise a pup with love, and you'll get a loving dog.
and our nacho is the sweetest thing

¡Oh, un qué perrito hermoso! Se parece tan muy dulce.
So so very cute. I want to cuddle him.

He is just beautiful and you are right, raise a puppy with love and you will get a loving adult. However, raise a chowling with love and you will get a loving, aloof, arrogant, adult chow with wonderful attitude and there will be no other breed to touch him.
Socialise him, take him out as often as you can during these first months - anywhere, but make sure that he meets lots and lots of people, children and is talked to and petted whilst he is a baby chowling and you will end up with a beautiful, aloof, arrogant adult chow with wonderful attitude but one who will know about people and children and will be ok!
