Camping and Canoeing with Chows

Post by Mandy »

So... have you ever tried to put two 60 lb chow chows in a canoe? Well we did back in July and we had SO much fun. Cayenne just laid down and dealt with it... she doens't love the water, but understands that it helps her cool down. Chewie LOVES the water. At first he tried to lick it over the side of the canoe but figured out that wasn't going to work. he did try to move around a little, but settled down into a nice sit or laid down with his head on the side of the canoe. When we stopped for a while to get them in the water to cool them off, Chew decided to try his first swim. He worked SO hard but after a few doggie paddles in the deeper water, his huge coat started to drag him down and he had to work his way back into the shallow water. He ran and jumped and just had so much fun. Cay on the other hand only got in to her knees, and we had to dump some water on her. She wasn't happy but it did cool her down. She is so funny. Anyway... enough talk - here's the pics:

Wonderful! Is that a River? Moving water can be a challenge to swim in for our babies. Cay looks like she would rather not be in the water, but for mum and dad, she is willing to try. Chew looks game for any of it! Looks like everyone had a nice time.

Great pictures, we use to take Pekoe with us river rafting in Tahoe, lifting a wet Chow in and out of a raft made the trip even more of an adventure so you having to lift 2 wet chows in and out of a canoe must have been a really exciting adventure.

Ya gotta love this. Taking those beautiful chows down the river. I have a winding bayou behind the house and I need to try that with Lili. Do you have anymore photos to send? Would like to see larger sizes if ya can. Great series. No doubt they are both well cared for. CHOWTASTIC!...Send More!
