Hello!
I just found this fantastic forum and have been reading everyone's posts and looking at your pictures. Everyone has such beautiful dogs.
Well, I just moved away from my parents about a month ago and I can't even believe how much I miss our Chowchow. Tess is a seven year old black Chow. I'm going home this weekend and I can't wait to see my baby girl. Our Collie will be happy to see me just because she loves everyone but Tess actually misses us when someone is gone, even just over night.
We had no intentions of getting a Chow, but 6 years ago, the Chow mix we had was put to sleep due to a brain tumor at age three. Dad said, "No more dogs. I can't do this again". Well, two weeks later he found this little, starving Chow in the woods where he worked. He thought she was a bear cub at first. He called my mom and told her he was bringing this dog home and that she was a "test". By the time he got home, the "test" was "Tess" and she is the baby of the family, without a doubt.
I'm so excited to meet so many people who understand and love this breed as much as I do. So, here is my baby.

Thanks! You can tell from the look on her face that she knows she's beautiful. She has that whole "I'm too good to even have my picture taken by mere humans" Chow attitude going on there.
And after Zoe (chow mix) died, the house was so quiet and we couldn't stand not having a dog. And Tess was in such bad shape (she was dragging 15 feet of ski rope behind her when Dad found her- she had run away from whoever had her originally). She didn't even eat dog food. We think she had only ever been fed scraps. She was about 11 months old, so just a pup still. And we just fell in love with her. How do you not fall in love with those big brown eyes?

She always has her ears going different directions! Now I know why. Thanks for the compliments. They'll go straight to her head and she'll be a bigger snob than ever.
I get to see her in three days! It'll be so nice to squish all that fluffy fur.
