Lili says thanx for the comments. As for showing, I'm not into it. Lili has been spayed as all my chows have. Her dudley nose and spaying disqualifies her also. My wife and I live a reclusive lifestyle. Live next to the swamp. Have very few visitors. Lili spends 95% of the time in the house. She's not mean or aggressive but will stand off strangers from entering the house until we get to the door. She's extremely lovable once she knows you. I can pull her around like a teddy bear. And she does love to be next to anyone she knows whether on the floor, the bed, or anywhere in the house. Chows have always suited our lifestyle. They are quiet, not hyper, and easy to please, although some say more maintenance is required. But from day one I trained her to adjust to the blower noise and baths and cleaning of eyes and ears. She is also very good at the vets office. She could use more socialization, but one has to make a decision. A chow totally socialized will greet anyone. My choice was in between. I want a chow that will be very cautious of soneone entering the house without permission and alarm me to it. But at the same time, one I can handle anyway I want. Very loyal she is. Is this long winded? Sorry if it is.

Lili is just gorgeous, ChowDaddy. Seems we're in agreement on training, socialization, etc. I live the same sort of semi-reclusive lifestyle and my Chows fit it to a "T". Just give me my Chows, my books, my films and some good food and I'm perfectly happy without much human interaction (especially the kind one gets in this area). I've had quite enough of people by the end of a work week.

Chows are not the whole of our lives but, they make our lives whole.

You're comment was perfectly written, except for one comma. There are some who actually speak english as their language, and can't do as well as you!
It only looks long winded when you type the little box, presentation is much smaller in appearance...lol. LiLi is beautiful. You have the best of both worlds. She is way easier to groom than a rough chow, but looks plush and beautiful, too. She could be the live model for a Dakin stuffed chow.

I agree. Nothing wrong with Kodas english. Better than alot of native americans....HA!...Texas Heat? I'm use to it, but it's bad here. Humidity, mosquitoes, tropical rain forest it is. Lili cannot take it. She is let out early in the morning for half an hour. And then is walked late in the afternoon for about 20 minutes. She loves her walks though. I have to be very careful. When we get back I always put a fan in front of her after she drinks. She loves to ride with me in the car. Several years ago I had a terrible ordeal. I use to roll down the windows. I still had her on a leash and close to me in the front. She saw a cat. She didn't try to jump out, but put her feet on top of the door while window was down. She's so top heavy her feet slipped out the window and she disappeared instantly out the door and took the leash! I nearly had a heart attack. I thought I ran over her going down the road. She was laying in the grass, and had a cut under chin and broken toe nail. But scared to death. She was shaking when I got her back in. She must have thought I threw her out the window. Now she always sits next to me, and I keep all windows closed. I still have nightmares of running over her with the back wheel. Or dragging her behind the car if the leash got caught in the door. How horrible. I watch this baby like a hawk now.

Yikes!
That would be terrifying for her...poor girl. Have you thought about getting one of those doggy seat-belts for her? I have one for Dakota and it slips on really easily, the car seatbelt goes through the loop at the back and you just buckle them in. This way, she can sit in the front seat with me and I can roll her window down all the way if she wants. She always gets lots of looks as shes sitting there with her seatbelt on and her big furry head resting on the window sill.

I live the same way only in a big city, when I'm home from work it's me, my crafts, my books and my writing and of course my chows. I appreciate their quiet and if they want to warn folks away from my door that's cool, sometimes it's the only way I know someone is there, (I'm big into earphones), because I'm in my own little world. On the stree when we walk I want them alert and tolerant but they don't have to be overly friendly. (Dreamdancer will get there in a few months, right now he's a VERY friendly puppy.)Tovya wrote:Lili is just gorgeous, ChowDaddy. It is not good to allow a dog to hold their heads out the window of a moving vehcile in any case. Not only can they slip out, as this one did, but the wind in their eyes and ears, (which they love) can cause damage to both. I train mine to ride in that back and lay down. I still hold onto their leashes as well. I don't own my own car yet, when I do they will have the seat belt harnesses.Jess04920 wrote:Oh, my goodness! I always do the same thing with mine, let them put their heads out and their paws up on the door and hold the leash. I won't be doing that anymore!!! I never even thought of that! What a terrible ordeal, I can't imagine how scared she must have been...and you too!

Her nose is pink, (well actually more of a coral color) anyway anything besides black except in the case of blue chows which can have a self colored nose, (blue) is a dis-qualifing trait for showing. That's why so many of the beautiful cream chows on this site are not show chows. Their noses lighten and that disqualifies them.Roxana wrote:P.S.
What's a dudley nose?
Sorry Chowdaddy, you would have answered but I'm bored wating for a bus.
