A wonderful souvenir of my Buster

Like most of you, I brush diligently. With Buster, who lived to the age of 15 years and 3 months, that was a lot of brushing, and I saved it, too. Here is a sample of what a spinner has made from what remains of my beloved boy. When all is done, we should have over 4000 yards of it and Buster will keep me warm, probably for the rest of my life.

That's beautiful! I've often thought about having Hugo's hair spun as I'm grooming him.
Well done, that's just lovely.

Wow! What dedication - you can have a Buster hug whenever you wear 'him' :)

If anyone is interested in having their Chow's hair spun into wool (and then knitted or whatever, that's possible too) the spinner I used enjoyed spinning Chow so much that she said I could share her info with other Chow owners. So if you are interested, let me know.

And here is what the finished sweater looks like (along with a scarf I knitted for a friend). It's so soft and warm it's unbelievable.

Oh wow!! Love the sweater!! I had found a lady awhile back that makes wearables and Teddy bears from Samoyed fur, I asked her if she would do chow fur and from multiple chows and she said yes, I have fur from all 7 of my chows but haven't followed through

That dang cancer got in the way, along with my wedding and moving I just haven't followed through

Now I am going to have to try and find her again

Brilliant! I'm going to start saving. Please do share the spinner's info here when you get the chance.

wow that is so cool!! I'm so glad you got to keep a piece of her with you to keep you warm always. What a great idea! how much does something like that cost? and what kind of container do you save the fur in? I'm curious as to how many bags of fur it takes to make a sweater. I would love to make little mittens with my chow's fur.

If you are interested in doing this, you can email me at woof at knityourdog dot com. As to how many "bags" of hair it takes, that depends on the size of the "bag" and the size of the sweater. If you contact me, I can arrange to find out how much of your dog's hair would be needed.
I can tell you that I can knit fingerless gloves with about 250 yards of 2-ply (to spin this stuff 4-ply is not recommended; it's simply too warm!) and that takes a couple of well-packed plastic grocery bags full of hair. Now would be the time to collect it!!!

And sorry I took so long to post; very busy couple of months (and I adopted another Chow!!!)
