Willow's New Groomer

Post by willowchow »

Willow went back to the groomer today after over a year off due to her illness that started last summer.
I picked a new place that I thought would be less stressful for her. I really like the new groomer so far. She did a nice job but also she seemed to really care about my concerns for her going back after being so sick and what her special needs were.

When I picked her up she said Willow was a really good girl. I thought she would be. She's always been very tolerant of grooming. But, it had been so long-
I wasn't sure. Anyway, this is a big milestone in her remission. At one point, she couldn't be around other dogs, was much too weak for a professional grooming, had lost most of her fur, etc, etc.

Here's some photos for all you chow lovers!!

Thanks everyone!!
For those that asked, she had an immune disease that effects the blood called thrombocytopenia.
She had to be on Prednisone for five months with some other drugs. The side effects of Prednisone are not fun. And, she had to have frequent blood work to check on her platelets, every two weeks she was stuck.

We had some dark days and some days I was scared out of my mind. But, we got thru it. And, she's been doing well for the past 8 months. She just has to go back every 3 months for checks to make sure she's stable.

That is a really horrible desease to have and I am so glad to hear she is feeling a lot better. I think that is what a friend of mines dog has - it has a low platelet count. You wouldn't know to look at Willow what she has been through. Aren't they amazing what they cope with. You too. :D

Willow looks wonderful and like she's feeling a lot better, and considering your recent posts about her behavior I think she IS feeling better. So glad to hear it.
