Hi Steve,

So good to hear that Winston has been rash free for a while! What a relief that we both seem to have found the causes too! It will certainly make our lives a lot easier! We just have to accept that our gorgeous creamy's have delicate sensitive skin and we need to be extra careful with them!

Thanks for the compliments on Suki! She's my little cutie-pie and I just adore her squishy little face! It's funny.....looking at your pics of Winston I can totally see that Suki and him are related! They have such similar faces and expressions! Both gorgeous!

Here are some recent pics of Suki for you: -

Beautiful photos of Winston’s Great Auntie !!

Glad to see they have a wonderful life !!! Maz took Winston to dog training on Saturday but the temp was 31 degrees Celsius and he had to leave early as he was having a rough time, wasn’t even interested in his cabanossi !!! poor fellow.

Was also relieved to know that he had so rash or ill effects from the heat and grass like I assumed the first time. Feeling more confident it was the wool rug !!

That's the one thing that chows don't do very well with......heat! I have a video clip of ours playing in the snow and they absolutely LOVED it! You can see that they're having the best time ever!! They just won't come back inside when it's snowing! They would happily live in the snow forever I'm sure! Unfortunately we didn't get much snow last winter but I'm hoping that we get a bit more this year so the chows can have a blast in it!!

Beautiful pictures! Suki and Winston make me want a cream chow (a new friend for Schmooshie!). Alas, my husband will not let me... he says our next dog must be a dachshund...! Thanks for the adorable photos on this chat!

You are so lucky to have seasons! I see that Winston's rash was due to the heat... I am glad you found out why and that you can control it. We here are constantly hot - that Schmoosh is sick of the heat! But she has no rash so that is good!

Winston and Duff look less squishy faced and somewhat skinnier than Schmoosh and other chows... are they mixed or just special? They are extremely adorable!! Thanks for the beautiful photos!

Winston is purebreed but a smooth chow, Duff is cross Chow/ sharpei and is only 23kg, Winston shoud be around 18kg this week. My last puppie was a Rotweiler and from puupy age, there legs frow and they get tall. Once legs have grown the width will start. There is a picture of his dad in this thread so should be somewhat similiar. I'm confident he will be around a 35kg chow

Puppy zoomies (even though he is a big boy now) are the best. What a well socialized boy he is becoming. Kudos to you!

Winston is now 8.5 months and still 25kg. He is getting broader in teh process. I'm guessing he is loosing his puppy fat and swapping it for muscle.

Health wise he is doing great and as long as he stays away from wool he is fine. No rash from any grass so really pleased. His hernia has all but healed up and overall a healthy litle man.

Has been hot here in oz around 100 degrees F DAY, 80 F at night and he has been a little heat stressed. The other night he was panting (mouth closed) really really quick, early morning once it had cooled he was back to normal. Did some searching last night on heavy breathing/ panting etc. Noticed that a few of you have fans for your pup's so went out today and bought him one. He mainly lays in thebathroom on tiles, or at the front door catching what breeze there is.

He is such a cute dog, one of his new nicknames is "Tuff Fluff" Also built a gate for the front porch today so he can sit out front and watch the world go bye, will get some pics up soon.

Steve

Poor Winston That sort of heat is no joke for a chow. He sounds like he is mainly coping pretty well though. We dont have those sorts of temps here in Sctoland (wish we did sometimes) so I cant really offer any suggestions except when it is very hot (for us) here Bramble likes to lie on damp surfaces so I hose the paving slabs down and she lies on the wet bits.

Cant wait to see some new pics of Winston. :D

They are a beautiful pair. Winston has grown a lot and is looking a big handsome boy now. The gate is an excellent idea for the hot weather and will give some entertainment for the pair. :D
