Introducing my new chow, Sweetie :)
So just a little background info, Sweetie came to live with me on the day before Xmas. She is about 15 months old. She has the Sweetest personality, lots of purple kisses and tail wagging. We are working on introducing her to the cats. She just wants to say hello and play, but my cats weren't raised with dogs so they don't get it. So Sweetie is learning to ignore the cats, and the cats are learning to tolerate Sweetie.
I tried to post pictures of her previously, but deleted the post when I realized the photo sharing didn't work, so I'll try again. Hopefully, this will work.

Awww... she's a-do-ra-ble!
Are you sure she's 15 months old already? It looks like she still has lots of puppy fur (especially in the "Just hanging out" photo).

It sounds like Sweetie is a good name for her! She should get used to your cats. We have had to work on that with Molly and our cats. If they run, she loves to chase them, but they are learning to not let her get them running, then things are fine! Sweetie is beautiful!

Re: Introducing my new chow, Sweetie :)
Thanks for the compliments on Sweetie.. I got her from a friend who is a Chow breeder who was looking to place her. She knew I was looking for a Chow that would likely get along really well with cats (one of my cats has a heart condition, so this is a must) and thought Sweetie would be a good fit.
The pictures you see of her with lots of puppy coat were taken when she was about 12 months old when she first came to live with me. The pictures where she has less of a mane were taken more recently. When I first got her, she just lost a ton of puppy coat. I filled at least two paper grocery bags full of hair while grooming her during that time. The hair exodus seems to have let up a bit more recently.

She is beautiful! You've been so patient with your chow search and waitted so long Congratulations!
Re: Introducing my new chow, Sweetie :)
Wonderful news. I had the song At Last playing in my head when I aw your post. I am curious, what are some of Sweetie's nicknames? Her name is perfect, and a perfect segue to oodles of other terms of affection.
Re: Introducing my new chow, Sweetie :)
Yes, I'm sure I'm at least runner up for waiting the longest for a Chow. There were just a number of things that came up including one of my cats being diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. His cardiologist said no new pets until we got his condition stablized (more or less) on medication. Once that happened then, it was a matter of waiting.
I actually didn't name Sweetie. It was already her name when she came to live with me, but it fits her personality perfectly. She also goes by Sweetie Pea, and Sweetikins.

What a beautiful chow girl Sweetie . I always think that part of destiny is in a name. She well deserves her name.
Mishka is adding that he is smitten by her beauty and wants to add that he also has "sweet dream" part in his official name.

I'm definitely keeping you bumped forward. We waited too long for you to get your Sweetie to let the post get buried.

Sweetie is beautiful. It sounds like she was given the perfect hame.

Thanks all for the compliments on Sweetie, she is now fast asleep on the floor, just snoring away. Sometimes she even talks in her sleep, not really sure what that is all about. Just a very noisy sleeper I guess..

Re: Introducing my new chow, Sweetie :)
Does she say something like "weep, weep, weep"? Because when Miss Pooh Bear is sound asleep, she too talks in her sleep and that is what is audible. A deep breath and then "weep, weep, weep" repeat... My foster, Bruin, has said the same phrase a couple of times in his sleep too. And both of their lips become animated.Sylvia wrote:... Re: Introducing my new chow, Sweetie :)
Yes, I guess it could be described like that. It's not a bark or growl not quite a whine either. Softer, more like talking to one's self in some Chow language. Once or twice I've woken up hearing it, and then realize it's just Sweetie.Zhuyos mom wrote:

What a pretty chow!
Natasha makes noises in her sleep, too. It's cute.
