Guess who!

Post by Coco Chow »

Guess who has now been allowed to walk off leash in parks? 8)

Image

It's now easier to make new friends without that stupid long leash:

Hello!

Image

I'm really happy! \:D/

Image

I used to be the only dog on leash in the woods... but these last weeks I've been trained to come back when I'm called and Mama is quite happy with the results.... O:)

By the way, has autumn arrived where you live? I'm surprised we're only mid-august and it's already here...
A red chow is hiding in those red leaves, will you find it... :!:

Miss Coco is lovely as always. I'm afraid we won't see autumn for a few more months. We're in the triple digits now.

Coco is beautiful! I wish Bella could walk off leash.. but she would definitely run away! :? Lucky for us, we have a fenced in off-leash dog park so she gets to run free without running away. haha

I think any dog can be trained to be off-leash, I trained Mikka at 3 months old.
Maybe Coco has trained her mommy to trust her off-leash!

No autumn here yet in Marin.....but some mornings I think I can smell it in the air!

Coco is absulutely gorgeous. He looks very happy walking off leash. She is a wonder.

I read that some chows can be very stuborn and refuse to return to the owner. Was Coco trained by a professional trainer or you used your techniques?

No professional for Coco! It's our hard work!
First in the apartment, several times a day I called her: "Coco, come here!" and when she came, she has a little piece of duck... :P
Then, there is that alley, a dead end at the entrance of a park (where dogs are unfortunately not allowed), close to where we live, and we took the leash off of her there, so she could chase leaves and pigeons by herself. Sometimes there I told her: "Coco, come here!" and she would run back to me. So I praised, praised, praised, I made a big deal out of it.
So we thought we could give it a try in the woods. And it's working fine, she really *runs* back to us when she's asked to.
Because I know it's not possible with every chow chow, I'm really proud of her.. 8) And she's really happy to be free on grass again!

Well done Coco. What a clever girl you are to train your Mama so well to give you treats in all settings. Now just don't ruin your new found freedom like I did chasing a bunny.... Miss Millie M

My dearest Coco,

You are so beautiful. I can go off leash too, I call it going commando, my naughty brother can't go off leash but I wish my dad would let him go off, then I can be an only chow  If you ever need a boyfriend, look no further, I love you

Oh, Coco is so beautiful and looks so happy. What a good girl to earn this privilege. Mine would take off after that bunny like Miss Millie.
