Hmmm...
I was in Tahoe for the 4th and we had some people over for dinner, they brought their dog. The dog had a "lion cut" haircut which looks exactly like what your dogs are sporting. Is that a popular haircut for chows or chowmixes in the summer? I thought it was really cute but wondered if the dog was embarassed. He looked cool and comfortable, however - it was around 80 degrees at the Truckee 4th of July parade and we were out there for about 3 hours. People said he looked really cute with his lion cut.

I shave Zilla mainly due to his autoimmune disorder skin condition. The sores heal better when the air can get to them. I thought Missy was going to have a heat stroke when she first arrived from Canada, so I gave her a good clip and she seems to enjoy the coolness. I only clip them short in the main heat of summer, and they stay inside in the A/C most of the time so they aren't at risk of sunburn or anything. I have noticed that they seem much more active in the summer once I clip them.

On the subject of hair cuts, Millie had one last year & was super playful with it. She looked adorable as well. This year, I've been ultra through about combing out undercoat & trimmed their tummy hair down so they cool off easier. Millie is not as happy as last summer, although Alf is doing much better than I expected.

Cute sweeties! My Gordo seems completely oblivious when i get his lion cut done. But it is funny how he looks. He has a lot more energy when we get it cut though, due to excessive heat and humidity around Maryland.

The furkids look very cute!
