Hector, my Precious little Welsh Boy.

Post by Judy Fox »

Journey well across the Rainbow Bridge to The Happy Hunting grounds, Hector bach - but I hope you have time to fly over your own beautiful Island, Anglesey on your way.

Remember you were loved more than words can tell and we miss you but know you are where it is always spring and there is no more pain.

After a very short period of illness I am so sad to say my precious Hector's heart could not cope with his still active 8 year old body.

It was finally decided this lunch time in consultation with the vets that the kindest thing we could do was to let him go.

Here are some of my favourite photos of him.

Oh dear!

Dear sweet Hector, run free and play with Heidi with much abandon!

The M's will be very sorrowful for a while. Tell Fred not to fret. It is natural.

Thank you everybody - your words are comforting. It is so easy on the soul when one can tell others about your sorrow when you know those people are going to understand exactly how you are feeling.

The house is so quiet and Milly and Mabel are puzzled and Harry has slept in Hector's bed almost constantly since Monday. It is amazing how they know.

So once again, thank you for your company. :)

Lou, how many times have I typed those words of the Hebrew Proverb. To read them sent to me was indeed a comfort. I hope others have found them so. :) [:D]

Sory to hear about Hector, I was going to ask how M&M were dealing with it but you just posted the answer.

Jeff - these Chow Chows are truly amazing.
I think you all know that Hector came to live here with us almost 8 yrs ago as a tiny pup when our daughter lived here with her daughter. Then when he was three, they all moved to their own place.
Then last July when they were moving again, it was decided that Hector would not settle in the new place so he came back to live with us.
Well during the four years that he was away, M & M had got a bit settled in their ways regarding their toys and things.
When Hector came back, he soon changed that.
They used to keep a few toys on the floor by the television but Hector just picked them up and tossed them about as he wished so their toys were put in their toy basket. :lol:
Well, yesterday Milly, the little snotty totty that she is - started to stow their favourite toys by the television again. Her green hippo, the two squirrels that Lou sent them years ago, Mabels duck and one or two more. It is as if they know - in fact - I am sure they know that their toys will stay where they have put them now. :)
They know I am upset though and they come and stick their beautiful little snouts between my shins to comfort me.
The end of an era!
I loved him so much.

Judy,

I am so sorry to hear about little Hector. You have my sympathies.
It takes much love to let our furkids go when their time has come.
I hope you are comforted by the fact that Hector had a wonderful life with you, Fred, and the M's.

So sorry Judy. Such a sweet boy, and his face in that graduation cap was just so darling. Run fast and free at the bridge, dear Hector.

This Morning in the Mail
Checked long before the Dawn
a Sad Message from a Friend
The Loyal Hectors Gone.

Gone away across the bridge to wait for those he loves

Gone away to Paradise where ner an ill wind blows

and all the loyal friends wait to greet us in the end

it must be a crowded joyful place this rainbow bridge i hear of
[a tear goes trickling down]

Where all we loved waits for us

Loyal beyond the end ..
my words are weak
my feelings strong
my sympathy deep

when i think of all my friends

.. i looked for words and searched the world for sentiments that sang

and at the end i felt inadequate and faithless that so few and true i could quote or frame

to help a Loyal friend..

old Bobbie Burns came out of the fog and spoke to me of Twa Dogs
.....

http://www.famouspoetsandpoems.com/poet ... /5083.html

The Twa Dogs by Robert Burns
....

dog in Highland Sang,
Was made lang syne,-Lord knows how lang.
He was a gash an' faithfu' tyke,
As ever lap a sheugh or dyke.
His honest, sonsie, baws'nt face
Aye gat him friends in ilka place;
His breast was white, his touzie back
Weel clad wi' coat o' glossy black;
His gawsie tail, wi' upward curl,
Hung owre his hurdie's wi' a swirl.
Nae doubt but they were fain o' ither,
And unco pack an' thick thegither;
Wi' social nose whiles snuff'd an' snowkit;
Whiles mice an' moudieworts they howkit;
Whiles scour'd awa' in lang excursion,
An' worry'd ither in diversion;
Until wi' daffin' weary grown
Upon a knowe they set them down.
An' there began a lang digression.
About the "lords o' the creation."

Thank you all - Michael - loved the poems - had not read the Robbie Burns one!
I sure have got some loved ones to meet me when I hang up my boots.
Working backwards:-

Hector - Standard Schnauzer
Humphrey - Lhasa Apso
Meggie - The Boxer
Lizzie - The Great Dane
Rupert - a black Pug
Pippa - a fawn Pug
Polly - a fawn Pug (Ruperts wife)
Benny - a black Pug
Beth - a black Pug
Lisa - A Brindle Great Dane
Jenny - a fawn Great Dane
Peggy - a black and white Mutt

Then from my childhood home several Pembroke Corgis and Kim the boxer and the first dog I ever loved, my Auntie's black dog Bonzo.
Then of course several cats. :)
