Sorry for your loss, I think that has to be the youngest case of bloat in a Chow that I have heard of.
Pay attention people, gas and Chows are a recipe for disaster, if your dog has gas with the food they are being fed they need to be changed to another food immediately.

My heart aches to hear that Shumie has passed on. The gas/bloat situation along with the UTI problem was too much for her little body to handle at once.
Don't be too hard on yourself for doing the best that you knew how. Whenever there are any physical signs away from what's normal, I find it's always better to get to the vet right away and not wait. Sometimes you can call the vet and they will advise you. Vomiting is a warning sign and gas is not normal, not even in people. (Although I know people who apparently think gas as normal in people.)
I feel so sad that you went through this loss, however, Shumie is now at peace. We all will be sending healing thoughts your way.

I am so sorry, to hear this, but I think your Vet got the diagnosis wrong, I think she suffered from intersuspection of the bowel, it also has the same effects as Blout, but I in my 35 years of breeding Chows, have never heard of a tiny puppy getting Blout in the way she may have had it, but I have lost an 8week old puppy with intersuspection of the bowel, this is where the intestine doubles back into it's self, causing blout like symptoms, vomiting and great pain. It was not your fault, but if she had travelled a long way either by air or over ground, this could have caused a tummy problem, which could have agravated and caused the above symptoms.
I had an autopsy don on Heidi and that was what the Vet found. otherwise we would also have put it down to Blout.

I am so sorry for your loss. Shumie was not only loved by you and your family...she was loved dearly by this community.
I put Shumie's picture on my computer at work so I could see her cute face whenever I needed something beautiful to look at it.
Again, sorry for your loss. She will be missed and I will keep your family in my prayers.

This might be one of the most heart -wretching stories I've read. What a precious baby. You did everything that you could. Ours that have passed before, now have a precious little playmate. They will comfort Shumie , until you two meet again !!
I really miss my purple kisses!!! RIP Bear, my bestest friend EVER !!
